Well finally after 6 months of beta testing my carputer. I retired the old machine and purchased a shuttle PC and a opus to go in it.

256MB DDR RAM
120GB 7200RPM HD
Linksys PCI 802.11B Wireless Card
Garmin 15L-W OEM GPS

Do you have any problems with the hard drive since its sits parrallel to the ground? Most people say to mount it perpendicular... but i was just wondering since one day i want to upgrade my carputer to a shuttle...
personally I think that is a myth, I have had 4 carputers with hard drives mounted that way and never any problems, and it's sat that close to my sub the whole time.
what gps are you using and where did you get it
