Love the flip down screen. I've been thinking of doing something similar. So I am very interested in your design.

You said you got your parts home depot, what parts did you use exactly?

I used a magnetic catch latch similar to this one at the top center of the screen. So that i can push it in and out.

and for the hinges, i used something similar to this on either side of the mold

Also, about the placement of the CPU by the passengers legs, i secured it pretty tight and ran all the wiring thru plastic tubing and tucked it all away so that even if someone kicked it, it would really screw anything up.

    I-Bus Info

    Hi,
I know about hack the i bus, but could you please tell me which SW you are using with your computer, and which Interface you are using. Also, what does the VB program you created do?

    Thanx
    Michael

i am using 2 main programs running in the background, ibusanalyzer.exe and ibuscomm.exe, both are available on the hacktheibus yahoo group forum. I had to fiddle with all the different com and port settings as pretty much all my peripherals are running through USB. Also, I had to play around with all the button commands as they were a bit different for my car and I also wanted to control the stock radio thru the CPU (most everyone else uses a USB FM tuner) and not just have the steering wheel buttons control the computer which is the what ibuscomm.exe does. Then i just added commands for turn signals and such just for the heck of it.

No, actually its not, but i plan on getting an amplified one because thats the only channel that comes clear and even that one gets kinda shakey when the car is actually moving.
