Place: Micro Center. If you apply for Micro Center Visa card and buy any mobo & CPU combo, you get 100 buck rebate. That is how I get it.
I bought the Soyo K7VME Mobo (49.99) and AMD Mobile CPU (99.99) and apply for the card. Get 100 rebate back from Micro Center. 50 buck rebate back from Soyo (yeah after 7 months).
Since I don't like the Soyo mobo (No auto on when power fail, and only 1 Serial port), So I buy the Asus mobo. I may use the Soyo to build a home media.

Yeah I finish the most difficult job (fabrication) a while ago, but there are some cosmetic thing that keep me away from posting it up here.

I am in the process of planning an '05 Matrix XR install, hopefully within the next year. I have an old Titanium Powerbook 500 I'm going to chop the head off of and mount under the passenger seat.

MatrixPC, do you know of any good web resources that describe how to work with the guts of a Matrix? I'm not a car guy, but I'm willing to learn, and I've got the time to work on learning. Your install is very inspiring, thanks for posting it.

I do have one question specific to your install: do you think the Lilliput 7" screen would fit in the stock dash cutout? I'm hoping to do as little fab as possible so as to keep the car looking as stock as I can.

Since I dont have a lilli yet, why do some people choose to keep the lilli's built in buttons and other dont. What do they do and what of those buttons is truly needed?

I ask only cuz Id be doing this exact same thing to my car...a 2003 matrix bought in 2002

the only thing you really need is the power button and the remote sensor..but I beleive they're easily movable...the volume + & - control doesnt do anything since its only controlling the tiny speaker behind the unit itself.

you dont even need the power button because usualy the power goes off and on when the car's in either state...but for some reason my brothers car keeps the computer and liliput on for 15 seconds after the key is taken out...lol

the buttons are (from left to right)
-Remote sensor
-Power
-PC/AV
-Volume +/-
-Menu
-and two arrow things ( < > ) I'm not sure of their purpose...
