If the interface looks great, is rock solid, and does all you claim, I would pay for it immediatly. I am installing MCE on my carpc right now, just so I have an interface which looks very professional (audio/visual effects, clean graphics etc). Would it be possible to post some screenshots?

    Here is the software manual

All of the graphics are .jpg's they can be changed in photoshop and moved anywhere using the "move controls" function in the admin panel.

I am going to relase a demo of this software that can hold 3 movies and 3 albums in the next two weeks.

If there is enought intrest I will release the full version.

Side note: This program only runs on XP. We have older versions don't have all the features that run on 2000.

Was looking at your CPU benchmarks and just a couple of points - you say you chose the 600mhz P3 but dont have it in your benchmarks and you didnt happen to test an 800mhz P3 against an epia 1ghz did you? trying o decide if the old P3 800 i have lying around is worht using until i can afford a mobile athlon.

That software looks pretty nice... Are you able to use images for those custom buttons? Cause that would be a big selling point for me.

Not likin' the 15's up near the the windows....but thats just my taste, i prefer the cleaner look.

But you did a great job overall. I'm sure the client was very happy.

First of all, congratulations on a beautiful install. I must say.. you have my dream job.. installing and working on carputers all day.. (you have an opening in your company? ) I noticed you mentioned the system runs with windows XP. Have you done any tweaking to accelerate boot time? use standby? hibernate? I'm guessing since its a professional installation some arrangements have been made to have some sort of or close to "instant on" action. just curious how you achieved this.. if you did anything

This was one of our major headaches. If you want instant on you need to use windows XP embedded. If you use embedded you loose all abilty to have users control the computer like a normal home system.

Since the whole idea of having a carputer is the fact that it's a real computer that you can do anything with XP Embedded seems to defeat that whole purpose. We use the Windows Hibernate feature and have all the settings optimized in BIOS so the system boots up in about 30 seconds. Our software remebers the last song you were playing an automatically starts it where it left off. On/off control is handled by the micro controller with PS-ON signals to the motherboard.

In response to Escalade182, I don't think I've ever meet two people that totally agree on the way a system should be setup. Different strokes different folks.

Here is an app note with tests I did on boot up times.

    Help with software release

After working on different idea's over the last week we have deceided to release a demo version of our software to the public.

We will be doing this sometime over the next week. I want to get a list of people together who want to be beta testers and can provide feedback to make sure everything works.
