    2003 Silverado SS PC installed

    Hi
I'am new to the forum been looking for a while and have just finished installing my carputer (or would that be "truckputer") in my truck. Still working on the types of software to install but it's booting on XP for now. It's a VIA EPIA M1000 MB with 512 ram, 40 Gig drive and slim CD-DVD drive. I used the PCI slot to add a USB 2.0 card so I could put a USB Hub in the dash and one in the back. Here are a few shots of the installation.

hey, looks good, I was wondering if you could tell me something about that console.. is it possible to remove the inside under the arm rest? I just tried to take mine out, looks like 1 peice.. I'm contemplating relocating the stock deck into the arm rest cos I have the bose.. and using a pxgm24 for input from the carputer.. and using a 700TS with a fiberglass'd housing in the double din opening.

The interinal body of the console is a single plastic mold and you can cut and trim as required. But there is a metal frame that supports it that connect under the arm rest/ sotrage bin that needs to stay in plact to support the console.

I see, hrmm, it looks like that bucket inside the arm rest is removable then? I took every screw out I coudl finmd on that and it wouldn't budge. I was going to buy a replacement arm rest bucket and put the deck in it. I'm keeping the factory bose setup, so the bose amp goes I beleive where you put your motherboard there. That is a great place for it however.. I was trying to see if I could fit my PC under the cupholders, or at least part of it.

I'm not sure honestly if I'm going to do this project on this vehicle tho, gas prices are going up and up and I am not seeing wage adjustments to compensate (I doubt anyone is) But I'm still entertaining it. Have you found that the screen is difficult to see/use down there in the front of the console?

Yeah, I really like that touch screen. Kind of resembles the new honda nav system screens. Is it good visibility in sunlight? What brand/model is it?
