    Thumbs up

Well done, that is a nice clean looking install

I have a couple of questions:- How did you get the texture on the centre console?

And do you find the position that you installed your screen too low while driving, or is it just right?

    Thanks.

I was also going to put a screen there, but it doesn't seem right. A bit too low for my personal taste (don't get me wrong, yours looks very tidy) but just not for me.

I think i am going to put my blower controls in the cd player slot since i plan on removing it all together, then fabricating the screen in their place.

I was thinking the exact same thing, as I wouldn't miss the centre vents much.

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to match the texture of the stock Mk3 dash though...

Ups... there is activity after one year here

A friend of mine is body painter (varnisher? right word?). He did the final painting job. I think it would be best to ask at a local painter's shop, because they've got the right varnish for this (there are particles inside, that build the pattern on the surface while drying). I've never seen this stuff in a shop, but a varnisher should sell it to you (or do the job for you). I hope this helps you atleast a little...

The position... For me it's ok. I'm sitting quite low and the display is looking right to me. So I nearly never get problems with reflections or sunlight. But your absolutely right, you have to look DOWN. So it's a good idea to think about it for some time . The most used funktions can be used via my steeringwheel remote conrol. Hmm... Looking back, I never ran into ANY problems due to the display's position in all the time. And you know how fast we are going on our Autobahn

I made some plans, to put a little 3" oder 4" display for navi output where the left upper speaker is. But at the moment I'm thinking about buying a different car some day and blablabla So things will stay like this...

    Bye Joerg

Is it any old 25Ah battery we can get our hands on or are there specific types? And the device that is used to seperate the car battery and the "big block" the one at the bottom of the pic with only one terminal connected. I am guessing that the other terminal connects to the positive terminal of the car battery right?

Ahh sorry... I was on vacation... (my head is SO burned )

Yep, it simply is a gel battery (so I can use them inside the car). You are also right about the other terminal. It's for plus from the front battery.

The device is a big relay (90A and 150A peak). It's only so big, because the amp could pull alot and the smaller ones didn't have adequate terminals. The battery itself should never take more than 10 or 20A, even if it's empty. But please measure it and don't forget that you might need to make the fuse smaller, so the cables and the relay are protected.

The relay is switched by D+ from the car's generator. This pin gives 12V when the generator is powering the car. This way the batteries are disconnected until the car is runnig, so the carpc doesn't suck from your front battery and the crankingmotor doesn't touch your carpc's battery.
