Nice install. How are you coping with the glare?

I have a 04 Impala and wondered it you ever investigated replacing the stock stereo with the 7" screen? I have not measured mine yet but it seems like it would be a close fit.

I will be putting the screen in place of the factory radio in the spring. It looks like it should be a close fit, but some cutting will be needed. The radio needs to be relocated to the trunk because some of the cars features are controlled by the factory radio. There are harness kits available on the net that will extend the factory harness all the way to the trunk.

just fyi- I haven't read through this thread to see if it's been mentioned but...

your GPS antenna that you mounted on your trunk has a wire connected to it that goes into the trunk... that wire would act as a perfect track for water to run down. From there the 'drip point' would be right on to your amp.

    just a head's up.

    nice setup btw.

Thanks jlg. I had never heard of the relocation harness. I will definatly check it out. I plan on placing my screen in the same place in the spring or earlier. Whoever doe it first should communicate our problems.

Also, since you are using the stock radio. How are you directing the audio? Throuch a FM Modulator?

I have been through car washes and heavy rain falls since the install and I havent had a problem yet. Thanks for the heads up though, I will keep an eye on it.

The audio comes in through a auxillary input adapter made by PIE electronics (Part #GM12-AUXv2). It turns the input on the radio for the optional 6-disc changer into standard stereo jacks. I press the 'band' button on the radio a couple times to bring the radio to the aux input. the sound quality is great.

I completed all the necessary measuring and your 7" screen will fit in the dash hole. I'm hoping to get mine in soon.

I have a LCD mounting plate I'm designing. I'm having it machined within the next few months. I'll get some pics of the design up soon. If your interested enough I can see if I can get 2 made at the same time.
