Man, you're insane so do speak, but great job so far! It will look really really sweet when finished! I see you could take the dash out without taking the steering wheel off, nice...
At the moment yes, I am using a VGA splitter. But I also have the multimedia interface for the Blaupunkt Travelpilot, which gives a RCA video output. I want to play around with a video capture card of some sort to try and bring this into Windows as well.Originally Posted by RoyN
No issues so far on the Opus connected to a stable 12VDC Power Supply. We'll see when it goes into the car...... fingers crossed.
I don't know if you could tell with those pics.... but the windscreen ended up having to be removed to get the new modified dash in and out. Also heater controls had to be relocated down underneath. But if all goes to plan, once I have the system functioning and stable, we'll remove the heater controls all together, and replace them with a touch screen interface.
The dash is being retrimmed right now by a top-notch show car trimmer here in Melbourne, in Charcoal and Ash suede. Which once completed the rest of the interior will also be trimmed to match.
By the way... enforcer... mine is used and driven daily too (Just not for the last month!) hahaha
Some more information that probably hasn't been posted here. I am using the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum (with the KX Project drivers) so that I can get a true digital (coaxial) output. This feeds to my external Precision Power DAC (Digital Analog Convertor) and then into an Audiocontrol MVC (Master Volume Control) which is simply a pot mounted up front for volume control.
This car was originally built as a Sound Quality competition car, so once I embarked on this project I wanted to retain that level of sound quality. Incidentally, I have ripped all my reference discs to the hard drive in WAV format so they stay in high quality. Then I have 100Gb odd of Music Videos (all ripped myseld from Music DVD's) and 80Gb off of WMA's (Variable Bit Rate).
I like the horns & the 8's....I have a set of illusion audio cd-1's & 10's in my doors......aren't many other setups that can touch a front stage like these.....
that's a big *** screen there.....hows the viewing angle from the seated pos?
This is a SHARP LCD as used by Supermarket Checkouts, and the viewing angle (off axis) is fantastic. When we mounted it, it has a slight bias towards the drivers seated position, and also kicked the screen back a little also. It seems good from passengers seat and rear, but is ideal for the driver.
Hey guys just some updated pictures.
Looks pimp. what is it covered in? suede?
that looks uNbelievably gorgeous!!! quick question tho. in the first few pics it looks like u used lightweight body filleraround the screen..(BONDO) was that all you used? cuz in the back of my mind im thinking it will break apart eventually because its not strong enough...whats up? b ut awesome suede! i friggin LOVE it
Isnt the angle of the screen odd? Arent you going to be looking at it diagonally down?
I wonder how visible it will be in sunlight/darkness (tilting an LCD depending on the way it is made gives you a darker/lighter image.......)
