1992 BMW 318IS (E36) Carputer

Hey guys, I've been posting on the forums for a while, decided I should just start my own section for my project. My carputer isn't exactly complete, I am still working on some problems like where to place the computer, I am forced to put it into the trunk, then the problem of running cables is there... I should figure it out very soon. Anyways I have it fully working, checkout some of the pictures and movies.

Sorry about the crappy quality and sound in the movie, I used my digital Camera... i was trying to demonstrat my fm transmitter, the angle of the lilliput touch screen to show it has good visible quality all around, And the use of the media engine program. Any questions feel free to ask of course.

On the real though, so far so good man.. If my opinion means anaything, I think u should try to make the Lilliput trim black, instead of the silver... and uh... yea... be sure to hide the case and the wires...

Hey guys its been a very long time since i posted this... anyways, i finished hiding all the wires.. ive decided to install the pc in the trunk of the car. i wired up the monitor to the lighter and a toggle which also turns on my neons. I am going to put more pictures up soon.

I still want to do more mods to it... i want to make it almost totally intergrated into my car. meaning when i start my car up it should power on and what not. im still researching but if u guys have any tips be sure to letme know! im looking for a good gps so far ive seen many people use the earthmate. im still trying to find good gps software, the relay to power the pc on when the car is starting and what not.

hey there. i'm kinda new around here so i dont know much, but i have searched around a bit so i guess i know more than you.. :-D

anyway, in response to your last post, in terms of making it more integrated into your car, you should look at power supplies and shutdown/startup controllers. that way, your CarPC will turn on when u turn your car on and go into hibernate, standby or off when you turn your car off. there are a bunch of different options available and they are all customizable, so look into it.

also, if the "lighter" you are talking about is the cigarette lighter.. well.. that doesnt look very integrated im sure, so you should look into an adapter for your lilliput to plug into the PSU for the computer.. i think the adapter is called moltex or something.. look around the forums, you should find it somewhere.

ca pc looks good, i;m trying to put my screen in my e36 too, how did u get yours in tightly, mine seems to stick out a bit
