Thread: '03 Lancer. First CarPC

Orry, these are in no kind of order. And, yeah thats a huge PC case, but I'm already brainstorming something much much much smaller in the near future. I do need some ideas on how to control my cords coming from the dash. I removed the clock, since I won't be needing it anymore. I'm thinking about cutting off the audio and video jacks that connect to the monitor also, seeing that I have no need for them. I haven't come up with an idea on how to give it a cleaner look yet though. Any suggestions? Thanks

can you just tuck the excess cables and plugs underneath the mount behind the lcd?

I am thinking about doing that. I just was looking for a cleaner look. Gonna do a lil more brainstorming over the weekend if Dennis don't hit us here in Florida.

Are your HVAC controls mechanical or electronic / vacuum?

If they're electronic and or vacuum you can try relocating them somwhere else if you ever revise your system.

I have an 01 Taurus and the dash is a bit similar to how yours is now, with the radio and climate control knobs integrated into the radio bezel. I molded my screen into the factory radio bezel, and now I've got to figure out where I'm going to put my head unit and HVAC controls. I wish I had a pic of the screen now, but It'll have to wait till tomorrow, my brother stoly my camera.



I think I'm going to put the hvac stuff in a pod in the headliner and move the HU down to one of the pockets below the radio bezel.

If you want to try hiding your cables, you can drill a hole in the dash (not preferred), or you can cut a hole in the HVAC duct (since it's inside the dash and hidden, so no holes will be seen when you sell the car or remove the pc) and route the cables through the vent and into your screen. But you may not be able to get the connectors past the louvers in the vent.

I tried the idea about routing through the vents louvers, but yeah, the cables are to wide. I'll figure something out. I made my own monitor mount, so I think I can figure this out too

LOL that fram filter goes to my wife's car. It's been sitting in my trunk for like 6 months. Just never get around to pop the hood and put it in.
