I've got my car on 11 july, installed the pc 2 weeks after that. The new MKV looks agressive with the big front, give it big wheels, and it's one of the few cars that looks good in white. It looks alot like the concept drawings they had of the normal Golf 5

get your hu elsewhere and the screen in the middle.... screens that arent in the dash most always look bad... (mine looks bad too! cause it isnt in the dash)

Also, why dont you afix the computer to the back of the seat like an Amp?

@Red GTi: Agressive might not be the right word, but the front of the MKV looks different than the 'normal' Golf5, it looks faster, a bit more...ehm..well...agressive..lol don't know how else to call it.
I love having the pc in the car, the navigation is great and being able to take my mp3's with me is even better. Got some problems with starting the car, sometimes the pc quits when I start, but I'm hopefully sorting that in the weekend.

@RoyN: That's the problem, can't hack up the dash, it's a lease car I might do it if I can get a spare dashpannel and find a good place to put the HU without cutting up half the car. I was going to put the pc on the back of the seat, but I've heard that is bad for the hdd because the case will be diagonal then. Besides my parking is too far to connect with my wireless lan and walking up and down the stairs 10x with a 512Mb memstick to copy files sucks. So I have to be able to take it out to connect it to my network.

    Nice install Meelobee

I drive the same car as you, but still have to install my carputer. Just waiting on a few more bits and pieces.

I'm planning on placing my new head-unit into the cubby section on top of the dash. My friend is making me up a custom housing at the moment. The touchscreen will fit nicely into the double din space, although I will need to do a bit of moulding so that the screen will look OEM combined with the fascia replacement I have.

Here's some pics of what I'm doing:

As you can see in this pic the bottom curvy part of the lilliput does not fit in too well.. so I will be grinding it down to follow the curve. Then I will glue it to the fasicia adaptor using epoxy and after sanding/filling etc.. I will paint it dark grey to get that OEM feel

Eventually I want it to look something like Pseudo Nim's Impereza install:
Subaru Impreza 2.5RS '05 Wagon Install... on a budget

    Lilliput 7" TS / VIA EPIA M10000 / 512 MB DDR RAM / 40 GB 5400rmp 2.5" HDD / Samsung Slimline DVD-ROM / M1-ATX 90w PSU / Kenwood KDC-W5031 / Tranquil T3 Case / GPS Mouse
    INSTALL COMPLETE :)

Red, I agree with you, and I didnt remove my HU until it crapped out on me and I just decided to leave the computer by itself instead of buying another HU...

I dunno, I'm sick of my screen popped out in the middle so I'm convincing everyone I see to mold their in... eheheh I'm going to mold mine in ASAP...

yeah - it deffinately looks a lot better molded in, but if you can't mold it in for various reasons I'd rather have it hanging off the side than not have it at all...lol
