I don't hang with either of these guys, so I really don't know details to debate this with you.... but I do know that when your good the demand becomes much more than the available supply.... & when these guys start to make real money they want to enjoy it, not sit there & sweat for hours on a little detail.... the same detail that got them the notority in the first place....

jesse james may have spent 12 hours on a handle bar in the past, but I doubt he does that now.... I doubt he has the time to, even if he wants to, I'm sure there are other things that he wants to do more...

that's why I originally said... big bucks, big budget, big staff, big machinery..... it's not like back in his early days when he could just spend as much time as he needed on every aspect & do it all himself... by hand no less.... maybe in front of a camera

I'm just saying jesse james as a figure & representation of anyone really in that situation...., not specifically just him of course...

    awsome.

cant wait to the cars "rebirth" although i must admit there is a part of me that wants to see the vintage install redone, dont know why, I know its not practical, and there is so much less functionality, but there is just something beautiful about it. *snif* ok i am over that now

inspiring. Thanks for sharing your project.

ya know, funny you said that, because I was thinking the same thing.... part of me wants to just restore this to what it was.... I did a lot of searching for old installs & I haven't found any older windows installs than this one, I've found a few older installs, but not x86 based windows machines with a monitor... I've found an apple II & a atari 800 from the 80's.... I'm sure there were others as well, but I haven't found anything else comperable to this....

I really wish I found an earlier windows install.... I'd feel less bad about upgrading this one, but if this is really one of the first... it seems wrong on some level to just canabalize it........ theres just a nice ring to it.... "oldest surviving windows carpc"..... just don't know if I want to deal with the ancient headaches involved though.... it is much easier to upgrade it really...

We here would appreachiate it, but i doubt many others would...... yet.

but definatly try to hold onto the old components and as much of the origional fab work as you can, if you put in a new system. Down the road when there is a pc inside every car, more people will want to see the early projects. Right now people are still shocked to see a pc in a car at all.

I just wanted to give you props not only for the carputer but for the car itself. That's a serious sleeper that I know appeals to only a relatively few car nuts like myself.

I wanted to do a mid-90s Roadmaster or Fleetwood with a turboed LT1 and people said it was a crazy idea. Completely stock grandpa ride looking on the outside, 10-sec potential under the hood. One day I may decide to attempt it. You'd be surprised how many very clean examples of those cars are still out there.

Bring her alive and to a car meet sometime. Original hardware like Alti said. Except, mold that monitor in. You might just the the grandfather of carpc! You have the skills, we've all seen that at the meets. Keep up the great work.

this is a shot of the car between rounds at englishtown.... this is before the tilt nose/dfi/carputer deal..... this is around 1993 or so.... as you can see she was a real sleeper.... rag top, tru's & vouges.... limo tint & a little thing we here in brooklyn call "heavy bass" with 4 12's in the trunk off two rockford power 650's....

this car ****ed off a lot of vettes & mustangs on the street

I may just restore her rather than upgrade..... either way she should make a meet by next summer I think.... we'll see
