Great great! Ive been reading mp3car for six months now and waited to see some Avensis installations!

So, I have Avensis too and Im also having a carputer installation going on (for that 6 months already) right now. I have the same screen and Im pondering different solutions to mount it... Your idea looks great, but I really want to keep the onboard computer...

However, its really nice to see another Avensis owner on this forum!

Hey, good to have you here.
What kind of engine do you have? Unfortunately I only have the 1.8
What where you thinking about to do with the screen?
    Good luck

Sweetiest thing would be to ditch the head unit, get a replacement from Toyota, and start the screen fabrication from there. It would be also really confortable, as in the Avensis you sit in a lower position, and viewing and reaching the screen from the driver's position would be ideal.
Btw Iam, aren't you having a little difficulty reaching the screen?

I have the 2.0 VVT-I with manual transmission. Im quite satisfied with it.

For now Im thinking to mount the screen in front of centre ventilation openings with some kind of detachable stand...

I agree with Cris that the sweetest way to do it would be to rebuild the centre console (If i understood right ) but maybe Im too lazy for that

I agree cris, getting a console and build something costum, would be the best.
But at the moment I don't have the skills (I think) and no experience...
Plus I wanted it done fast!
Reaching the screen is not a problem at all, but it should not be further away..
    @Scouse Monkey
I'm gonna provide you with some additional pictures asp.

    @Anzafin
I believe that's a good engine, first I was very ****ed that I only got the 1.8 manual, but now after a couple of 100Km it runns very well.
To mount it with a stand will be just fine for the beginning but make sure that you get it done "properly" soon it will never really satisfy you

So, I finaly made to get an adtitional picture of my dash from a little bit further away.
I hope that's about how you ment it Scouse Monkey.

The cables that are still laying around are going to an USB repeater that sit's in the glove box and has a card reader, a small USB keyboard and a wireless dongle connected.
    Gotta sort that out soon..

    New setup

    Hey guys.

I finally felt like I have to put in some efforts in to my setup.

So I went to the toyota dealer to get myself a double din insert which goes in instead of the factory radio.
Then I started to cut up the display, and went looking for a way to make it fit in that hole.
Didn't really have a plan, just tried.
And I think it turned out pretty well.
It's also no problem to read the screen, just a very small part of the top gets cut of if your tall.

    Let the pictures explain...

    Before

    the parts

    cut up

    manufacturing

    testfit

    final

For my first attempt at manufacturing such a bezel I think it went pretty good.
Let me know what you think..
