I always have my laptop with me in a bag.... but the carputer laptop is permanently installed.... they ad hoc if I need transfer, .... now adays it's easy enough to transfer data that you really don't need to bring the pc in often at all... a usb drive would do it all, if you can't just transfer wirelessly that is

of course being able to just bring it in & play with it is cool, but the novelty wears off & the different hardware configs could make this a pain....... it winds up being in the car almost always anyway

I'm not knocking your setup at all, just sharing what I've learned from my last docked install...... your experience may be different..... cool project, I like it

    I agree with that 100%

I was using a dell latitude laptop as well c600. Reason I stopped using it is it would not hibernate properly with my usb gps plugged in. Perhaps you have a different one but I bought the rikaline and had nothing but problems trying to get it to work with the laptop, so I am just using a regular computer now and so far no problems. Goodluck and lemme know how it goes.

I rarely have a need for a laptop.... big reason why I like this setup... on occasion when I want it, it's there. I also have an FM modulator and car adapter for it to use in other cars if I want...

Ok, so now the latest news...

Got the screen installed, not fully with the brackets (have to wait on them in the mail) - the Elantra is HELL putting aftermarket radios and what not in.

    Everything is WORKING so far...

Right now I'm using Road Runner... love it.

I'm using a Holux 210 USB GPS and it's working great, even after hibernate.

I am using "Hibernate Trigger" to refire my touchscreen software upon return from hibernation, and using "Shutdown Controller" to suspend the computer upon battery power.

Works like a charm, got rid of the logon screens, etc...

I just need to hard wire the power button to a nice spot on my dash.

So next... I'm waiting on the system (head unit - going with a dvd/tv tuner head unit) - right now I'm running on an FM modulator with the stock head unit.... Also waiting for my XM radio box, then I'll get that installed, as well as the D-Link FM tuner...

So only 1 more problem to tackle right now - audio out isn't working on the docking station, I have to plug directly into the laptop - which isn't cool. since right now EVERYTHING is self sustained on the docking station except the audio, so I want to get that fixed somehow, wondering if it's not compatible with the C600 or what.....

Besides that, it's coming along great... Keep ya updated, pictures coming soon.

p.s. - if anyone else would like to do a similar project with a C600 (very cheap on eBay) please let me know and I'll give more details on settings and other things to make it work without all the hassle im' going through..
