Curious - where is the best place to find info on working with plexi? I wouldn't mind fooling around a bit with it...
I probably won't swap out the hardware until this one dies. It runs great and everything is working so far... Plus I enjoy making stuff like that
Last time I worked with plexi was back in 2001 when I made a plexi computer case with watercooling and stuff like that. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out since I have tools and stuff now.

I don't have any sites in particular, but what I did was use a solvent that "melts" the plexi together to form a pretty strong bond. Since I didn't want to wait to order it, I stopped by hobby lobby and they sold a methelyn chromide (i think) in the model car section.
It cuts nicely on a tablesaw or bandsaw from what I found this weekend... but it'll make your shop look like a white christmasFor my first attempt in 2001, I just scored and broke the plexi along a table edge.
Here's what I came up with this weekend. The case is recycled from the old case I made in 2001. It made a good donor.

Immortal .. your car just made me dirty my screen -
I'm such a BMW 3-series coupe whore...![]()
yo man looks like a nice install...just wondering what software your using. I just got iguidance and im using the alpine mediacar .....im wonderin what your usin with iguidance cause it doesnt run that great imbedded and the icons are really small...any suggestions?....you can msg me on e46fanatics if you want to....JRoz is my name
I'm currently using Road Runner with the Media Car 2.0 skin.
I was just using regular iguidance embedded in RR for a while, but like you, found the buttons to be too small. I installed iGmod and it definately improves the interface, but I'm having a problem now where whenever i'm in iGuidance, my tracks on whatever i'm listening to (xm or mp3) keep changing to the next track every 5 seconds. If i get out of GPS, the track stays where it is. I haven't tried troubleshooting it too much yet. Hopefully, I'll have some time in the next day or two.
I'm thinking the possibilities are:
- igmod related
- cpu related (someone posted that it could be caused by high cpu utilization.
- ibus related (something posted by igmod may be touching the ibuscomm app?)

Hey, that foam with the fiberglass bondo works great. That is EXACTLY how I did this...
And Have had absolutly NO problems...
It's not what you buy............It's what you build
if you have a three series - why not just buy the radio blind, manual climate control ($45 in parts) glue the two together. Then just cut a hole for the screen, attach the bezel with some ca glue, fill in the sides and you are done.
complete factory finish - i'd think that's easier then building the whole thing from scratch!!
