It's fine. Havn't tried it out in sunlight though yet as its still a work in progress.

jaytyn, I made the shroud myself from a piece of 9mm mdf, which had a cutout that fits the screen, and then a piece of 3mm mdf over the top which has the cutout for the viewable part of the screen

There is this company: http://www.asllogistics.com that can upgrade the standard "green" lcd to a TFT colour jobbie as shown below for $1100. The only problem is that it will not be touch screen. I guess I can probably try and get a touch film. but the problem is the TFT will be composite in...

ANy ideas... I really want an integrated solution and this sounds like the best way based on the BA Falcons design.

Why not just get them to mod the system and have your vga lcd installed instead then all you have to do is switch the signal from VGA to RCA 1 so u can change the temps etc

This way the VGA lcd is installed

Problem is do they use a 5" or 7" LCD? i think they use 5" i would ask them to see if they could create a bezal for a 7" screen and do the mod for composite output.

I was going to use my factory screen but gave up on it in the end. The screen is approx 6" from memory

I found the factory screen can support vga @ 15khz.

Zedevan, the cheapo screen I have works a treat, I have no worries seeing it during the daylight... I do have tinted windows though...

I dunno much about the technical details of the displays, but isn't 15khz a bit high? As the xenarc is only refreshing at about 60hz...

This is the email I got from the supplier:
Yes it is possible to connect your car PC directly to the TFT
screen although you may require special software when booting up to change
display to 15khz.(Cannot guarantee this will work as is depends on the video
card) Otherwise hooking up to RCA composite can be done.

I agree with fox... 15khz is a little high. You you happen to know anyone who works at ford that can check what type of screen it is for you?
