RGB NTSC with combined sync.
I had my XBOX hooked up to mine at one stage via a scart cable. Also had a digital settop box hooked up the same way.
I think it's not the refresh rate but the sync-signal...
not sure about that though...

Sory i forgot about this.
15Khz is the Sync signal.
Problem is u can blowup the LCD cause of the high frequency.
You will need to buy an Arcade VGA it outputs at 15khz for arcade monitors
You can do it by software on nvidia cards but the screen can't be on untill windows loads up and the videocard changes the rate.
I really reccomend u use an arcade VGA to save yourself money and hassle

does the stock screen do/show anything *necessary*? and is it required by the A/C to operate? from what i can see it only repeats on the screen the posisition the knob is at which is written on the fascia anyway... therefore it isnt really required on the screen.. if the a/c works without the lcd, then take it out and put the lilliput in there, and remove the stereo controls, keep the cd slot and mount a slot load laptop dvd drive behind it.

The screen has info for the radio and AC and is needed.
Problem is that you can't remove the screen as then the whole system goes down and doesn't work.

Sorry to drag this back up but
Has anyone either replaced the factory screen with a VGA screen and kept the standard Ford functions
OR
Successfully applied a touchscreen overlay to the factory screen ???
I havent done either but i will be looking at putting a 7" LCD in the dash, by either 2 ways.
I havent got a BA yet but i am looking at buying one to tow my race car around and for a daily.
The first way would be to interface all the stereo buttons, to a serial interface for use with controlling a car PC. Work out what pins to the LCD get energized for the AC bits and connect them to the board as well, and writing software for windows that will display an overlay of the air con information. Effectivly removing the factory LCD and doing the rest with a PC.
The other option would be to relocate the factory LCD to the tissue box area, after talking to the guy from ASL this is possible, that way there is no loss of factory bits, might make it a bit hard to see though im not sure yet. But it will give plenty of room for said 7" LCD
The idea of adding a touch screen film to the factory screen is a good idea but i only see it being viable if you allready have the colour display. 1100$ is a bit out of my price range for a half assed LCD with no VGA or pal inputs (or touch screen for that matter).... That said, the factory radio and aircon display rocks on the TFT (still not worth 1100$ to me though)

I've got the Premium Audio (which has the colour screen) and I've got the carputer running on it. Also the audio from the carputer plugs into the cars stereo via a 3.5mm plug. So I loose no functionality at all, the carputer is just an auxiliary input and if I want to use the factory tuner / CD Player I can just switch back to them with the press of a button.
Biggest problem is that it only supports NTSC, 640x480, 60Hz.
I've made up a cable which runs to the DVD input on the screen using the RGB wires, but the VGA outputs the sync in 2 different wires, a H-Sync line and a V-Sync line. The factory screen needs a composite sync line.
I'm working on a converter to make the composite sync, but it's a bit out of my league at the moment.......more googling to go.
