oh man! I love this install! :rock: we have the exact same dash except i have wood grain around the shift nob. i had been thinkin on where to mount the screen and this exact idea hit me but im glad its done and i get to see it instead of trying to vision it. very nice!!! :)

I love the work you did on this. i am currently doing the same thing, almost. i have a chrysler segring lxi with the exact same interior. i'm not using an 8" screen but rather a motorized in dash that is placed in the current spot of the HVAC controls. i had to relocate them because there was an issue of the screen blocking the vents if left in the orgiinal head location.
I do not have any experience in doing any of this and i was wondering if you could post a list of materials needed.; to do the exact same thing. Brand etc. i believe i can work it just based off of the pics posted but i'm also scared crapless. lol so any help or heads up is greatly appreciated.
Nice install how do you like the 8' monitor im thinking of getting one is it pretty clear and sharp on the screen?
The monitor is great. Only problem is with the sun directly shining on it... but all monitors have that issue.
SGF323, I have the same model (Mitsubishi Eclipse 2000 RS) and I'm looking to do the same. Would you consider molding out and selling what you just made? I know if I tried it, it would look like crap. Yours really came out sharp looking! The only problem is that I also added an indash DVD player...
My buddy has a 2004 eclipse and we were considering on doing the same exact thing. Wondering how you did the extension on the HVAC, I took all that out and right when we saw the cables we knew there has to be some way to rerun them or add to them. What did you do? Thanks.
I didn't make it longer. I made new ones.
From a small bike shop I got some inner wire that used to be used with an old type of bike gear system that is no longer made (Positron). It's just thin hard single stranded wire. For the outer cable I got reinforced bicycle brake outer cable. I then cut them to the proper lengths. The difference in length from the inner wire to the outer cable needs to be the same difference in length that are in the original cables. Then I used electrical ring terminals for the ends.
we were gonna locate his in the glovebox but i dont know if thats a a option seeing you have to keep it stationary :confused: He wants to keep it as stock as possible with as little of cutting as possible.
The HVAC has to be mounted. It *may* work in the glove box but you would have to route the cables as nicely as possible so that there isn't any added resistance that would cause it not to work properly.
All you have to do is take it a part and test things. I didn't know how I was going to do mine till I had it apart. I looked at it for a while, thought about it, then went around town trying to find something that would work.
