Awesome work, I hadn't seen this thread before and am in the early stages of planning and putting together an in-dash system much like yours for a 2005GT. This is just an initial response to the first page, I'm going to delve into the rest of the thread now and may have some questions/comments

I have a question. Completely n00b question too. Where is the ignition wire you used in the Mustang to turn everything on?

Everything is in my Mustang right now. My wires are all run. That's the last thing I need, believe it or not.

There is an ignition wire in the bundle of wires in the radio wiring harness. If you bought the same wiring harness as I did, the color legend is on the back of the packaging. It tells you what colored wires are what. Once you find your ignition, you will be set. If you can't find it there, just run a wire from your fuse box from an accessory fuse.

I'm using the 70-5521 Metra harness. I'd assume that's the same one. Do I just wire it to the red "switched" line then? If it's that simple, I feel foolish.

    EDIT:

When I get a break here at work I'm going out to my car to change the connection. For some reason I thought the red wire on the harness wanted an ignition connection going into it. I didn't connect anything to it though, 'cuz I couldn't figure out a reason the harness needed an ignition source. Good thing too.

That should be the wire that you are looking for. Let me know if that works out for you.
