I just put two buttons in the alcove between the panel and the headunit, one for on/off and one for input. I wish to toggle between RCA composite video output from my HU, for DVD and reverse camera, and VGA from my laptop for GPS and RAVE - if I get stuck somewhere

I will just wire the momentry push buttons to the orriginal buttons which are cable tied to the back of the screen

The SUPER screen isnt too bad at all.

    The side angle seems impressive

    Jsp...That looks great..really does.
It's exactly what I want (screen size, type, fit, look, the lot)
I want to get that in the wood effect to match my vogue interior.
It seems though that you had to remove the casing of the screen and mod it a bit to get it to fit that space. I also think that the missing rear case will help circulate any cool air. You could actually have taken a small new pipe from the above air con duct and redirected some of the airflow to the rear of the hu and screen to keep it all cool. Maybe something to think about.

I keep driving my RR around looking at my pathectic screen and dreaming of a new shiny touchscreen and pc on board.

I can do all the electrical and other mods without any problems but I am completely useless at the fabbing. I never did car bodywork or woodwork at school because it's just not me...no eye for it.

I want to get this in my RR but I know I need help.
In an ideal world I would ask you to fab and make up the surround and screen exactly the same as yours and then send it onto Jt in NC for his friend to do the wood effect. Then back to me for final fit with the rest of my mods.

    What do you think?

Jt: Can you do the same mod as this with the wood effect?

    One more thing:

A thank you to you for posting your fabbing and comments and ideas on my project. It's greatly appreciated.

Wishing you all a merry christmas and of course a "fab" new year....

    Getting somewhere!!!

I have finally found the adaptor I need. Found it in Germany.
Its an adaptor especially made for VDO Nav system screens.
It allows VDO input and output to NTSC rca to other screens.
This means I can now have the new TS monitor on VGA from the Carputer and just switch over to RCA for VDO Navi, Alpine DVD, TV etc..
This will give me the W/L internet, full PC funcion and MP3 from the PC to new Alpine HU and back out to the RR Alpine DSP...

    Here is the adaptor

    Wish List

    New Carputer
    New Alpine HU
Super Screen or Xenarc 7" TS
Fab of new surround in Wood Effect
    VDO - RCA Adaptor

    Sorry for disapearing like that.
The RR is currently in a LR dealer in the UK and I will be popping over to pick him up soon.
Then I can get back to the project as I am gonna use the vogue as a chauffeur car here in Spain.
I think the PC will go dow a treat.

The TMC unit works great. Better in the UK.
Now have just got my hands on a portable MIO168 sat nav unit too for my bike.....Now there's a project: PC ona motorbike????

    Current Status

    Sunday 9th April 2006....

In Spain at home: Costa Blanca, Southern Spain near Alicante

Have decided to stay here as have been offered a great job managing a Radio Station.

Will be flying to the UK on Wednesday 12th April to pick up Range Rover from the LR dealer.
    Then drive back to Spain.

The project will then go into full swing.
Have just found a new PC case on opus and think that will fit perfectly into cd changer bay in boot space.

Will post new pics next week of car.

    Update: 03 May 2006

Lost the *****kin panel on ebay.... Am so annoyed. Theya re so rare and for £5.00 as well.
Have found an RR down the road in Spain and trying to find out if I can have the parts.
Am in the process of collecting parts for install and planning as the RR's have to be done for me in one go. With all my kit on board I need to take everything out and wire everything and change connections together.

Looking at new PC from Opus...
