Hi there,
I have a 2003 Astra SRi, I am interested in making a similar design to what you have. just gotta tell you that it looks awesome. Although I want to keep my airconditioning vents as they are , is it possible to implement the screen into the console and keeping the screen? Just a couple of questions.
Does the screen have navigation and rear camera applications. Could I ask what type of screen you used. What navigation software did you use and what type of computer do you have in the dash? Finally, Where can I purchase the screen and the buttons like you have. How much did it cost you?
Hi all , could anyone share the tutorial for moulding the Lilliput into the centre console again !? I've an Astra and I'm from Brazil ! We don't use to install something like a PCCAR here !But this work done very nice !! And I wanna install a DVD screen on my center console too !
Thankss a lot !!!
See yaa !
The problem with moving the AC and heater controls isn't just the fact that the wires are too short. The electrical wires for the buttons can obviously be extended but the heater controls themselves have solid wires that are pushed and pulled to control the hot and cold vents as well as where the air is being passed to. These can't relly be extended, it's bad enough if you kink one slightly removing the console as it affects how smooth the dials operate.
Could anybody offer any advice on how to customise the centre console as done in this thead??
Thanks!
Mark
Where i can buy a central console like that?
Thnx
Hi Erwin,
In the above images, i saw a metallic stiffener was cut out, between the upper DIN and the heating vents.
Did you do the same? You must have, to be able to fit your lcd in place of the vents and the upper DIN. If so, how does this affect the stability and the stiffness of the console, doesn't it deform, doesn't it get noisy due to vibrations?
Cheers.
I had to remove the metal bar in the same way as the picture shows.
Where the rivets are on the left and right I had to bend them back as well to acommodate the 8 inch screen.
The bar sits to far forward to allow you to keep it and fit the screen. The only possible way would be if you flush fit the screen level with the front of the console which would cause a lot more work. It's defitnitely easier to fit the screen to the back of the console and remove the bar.
The large vent hole goes back a long way. To keep everything so that i can revert back to standard I rolled up and stuffed tight an old jumper in the front and used black-nasty tape to stop it coming out.
Hi people,
This one goes especially for Macflurry:
What did you do about the console's central muonting screws? Those are covered by the LCD, so nothing holds the console in the middle, when fitted back on. The only screws remaining are the ones above the ashtray, and the clips above the TID/MID.
I'm moulding my LCD in the console, so it's not removable, thus I won't be able to get to those screwholes.
Ideas?
Thanks and have a good day.
