On mine they are no longer used and as you say, it's only secured by the clips at the top and the scerws by the ashtray.

I also had to bent the two rivets at the top of the red circles back to fit the 8 inch scren in.

Ive put my 8" screen without cuting that bar. i just forced it back with my hand and then put my screen in.. fits perfect

OH wow, so you actually seal up the A/C vent.... I wish I could do that, lol, but in FL the more vents the better. The heat is a killer.

How does the system affect your battery though?

I'l have to put mine up on here too hehe..

ive drilled out a hole just infront of the clock goin straight thru to the vent and put somethin like this http://www.screwfix.com/sfd/i/cat/74/p2622574_x.jpg infront and made it air tight

now i get air coming out just like it used to before installin lcd screen

my car battery seems ok with this system on, get the intelligent psu, 150W-8V-28V-Mini-ITX-M2-Car-PC-DC-DC-ATX-Power

ive set it to 30min auto switch off but i also have a manual power switch linked to the battery+ so i can control when i want the pc on or keep off.

I might adventure myself on this... For my 1.4 99' astra the carputer will probably worth more than the car itself lol... but at eas i'll have something to keep me busy with

mines a 1.4 '03 lol.. both cars are exactly the same apart from the plate i think

best bet is glove box, and mold in screen like how erwins done

I on the other hand made mine mobile so I can take it out wheneva, screens molded in tho..

my pc is placed in a perfume gift set box hehe.. Hugo Boss :P
