that turned out pretty sweet. I'm suprised somebody with no experience in this stuff was able to do such a good job. Looking at your dash........I would not have taken on this sorta job.......it looked way to difficult. Congrats.

luwe,
did you work on the other side of the bezel that sorta looked crooked. If you did, please post pics. It'll be nice to see them. Thanks.
Man, that was the most satisfying thread I have ever read... I will definitely copy your idea (if I end up liking the Head Unit and can't think of something better). Maybe I should worry about graduating and getting a job first, then actually getting an Si, then...
So sweet. I was browsing for the Navi dash panel tonight for my '06 hybrid and ran across this thread. I'd love to see your tips on getting the wife to approveDid you drive your car through all this or leave it parked?
Based on my experience with wives, chances are slim for absolute approval. Your main concern is to quelch her fears that you are going to totally jack up your new car. And then sell to her the benefits that she will gain from your new found project, like, you will be out of her hair for awhile during your project, and you will let her have sexual favors whenever she wants it. (You wish, haha).Originally Posted by JoeFuture
Yeah, I drove my car around while I was doing this, but it only took around a month. There were times when my radio was just sitting in the dash with no dash actually installed and the temp controls just hanging there. You might even say, "wife, we will get even better gas mileage while the dash pieces are out because of the lower weight factor". She'll buy that, right? I didn't mind personally, it was a means to a vision.
Like i mentioned before I've been working on a microcontroller setup for automation. I have pretty much jumped so deep headlong into the world of microcontrollers and the possibilities that they hold, that I've put the Civicomputer on the back burner. But as soon as I get the tweaks ironed out it should be a sweet sweet shutdown controller that I will be glad to share with the class (schematics, code.....everything you will need for a similar system to mine) ((it probably won't be that sweet, but it's fun to say))

**I already posted this in General Hardware Discussion. I'm gonna be uploading more pictures and adding to thread within the next couple of days.
Hey everybody, I'm back from a long summer. I got my shutdown controller completed and it's pretty sweet. It displays to a 16 x 2 character display which I mounted into the dash that displays loading and shutdown sequences, temperature sensor readings, and has menu options for startup and shutdown delays, and temp F or C selection, all selectable from the dashboard. I have lots of pictures that I will upload with a full write up, schematic, and code. I also reworked my dash. I was setting up to do a video of the system last night for you all and........woops!.
POW!!! I accidentally shorted the continuous power to my radio and ground. So I need your help. The car was on when this happened. Now, when the car is off the keyless entry doesn't function, the power lock buttons don't work, the "key in ignition with door open" does not work, when I turn the key to the first position.....nothing happens. Not until I turn the key to the second position does the instrument panel power up and then the door locks work. The radio does not work regardless. When the car is on everything but the radio seem to function.
The dome lights and lights work at all times.
All of the fuses are fine. Believe me I checked a lot of the twice.
Does anyone have any clue what I can do to fix this mess?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
