I don't know where you were looking, but the base Civic has a MSRP of $14,500 and 140 HP. To compare the tC to a Civic as a sports car, you need to compare the Si. The Si is ~$20K, and to get a tC equiped kinda the same takes you to $18,500 and you are still 40HP and 190W short. The midlevel Civic (LX) coupe would be a decent comparison. 2006 Civic LX Coupe The thing I liked about the Civic vs the tC was the 32/38 MPG instead of 22/29 for the tC. 10 MPG! As an aside, I've averaged 34MPG for my car so far.
I was looking for a good car for a college student, and the Civic won by being more comfortable, better equiped, cheaper to buy and cheaper to own. My insurance is about $600 a year less with my 4dr Civic than it would have been with the tC, and with the better fuel efficency I save at the pump.

Also, I know the Honda will last 10 years or a couple hundred thousand, which ever comes later. At my current rate, I'll be at 200K in 10 years.

HAHA, at my current rate, I'll be at 364,000 in 10 years. Mine is the LX model. I figure any bells and whistles that the EX comes with, I can add myself. And the ones that I won't, I didn't want anyway. And the LXs come with 16" wheels. I'm 6' 5", I drive a lot and I really do Love my new Civic. I just traded up from an 88 accord with 212k. WORTH IT!!! You gotta weigh your choices Escalade, for you.

OK, so here's tonight's update. I got it in, aaaaaaand, I LOVE IT!!!!! So....., I mean......, ehem, I mean it's ok. As you can see it's missing some buttons, the DVD drive, and it needs a few minor fitting tweaks, but all in all it is right on!
Haha, the funny thing was, I was going to take the pictures with the DVD face plate setting in there, because it looks more finished and sweeter, And in my head I was like I should really do something to prevent this thing from dropping behind.......and.......I dropped it behind so, when I take it back out to mount a bracket for the DVD and to install the buttons I will retrieve it. Oh well, that is the way it goes baby. Hope you guys like it

IMO on your dash, everything looks alittle crooked (screen placement/dvd drive) and you could of spent alittle more time around the corners and whatnot to perfect the piece, again for the slight contour around your screen.

i think you did a great job. but I'm just pointing out minor flaws.

"Buttons" you say, what would I be without lots of new buttons? Nothing, I might as well just walk with a handheld stereographic picture slide viewer (you know, one of those red ones with the with the round white discs with pictures on them) and a pocket LP player. I will have a button to activate voice activation, one that energizes a relay that will allow me to press another button that will de-energize the same relay (which I'm told can actually make women's clothes fall off (I can't wait to install that one (except when my mother and daughter are in the car))). More importantly I will have three microscopic buttons that will only be visible after drinking heavy volumes of alcohol that will say "PRESS ME" which will disable the car if you press any one of the three. Oh, and one that will turn on the computer, a computer reset button, and a shutdown controller bypass switch button, and possibly an inverter hard power switch.

Luwe, damn man . Your install and fabrication looks awesome. Been following this thread since you started and im totally blown away. You put in crazy hours and it reflects a nicely done job. Mad props to you bro

Man, what’s with all the hostility? First off, nobody ever said anything against Toyota. To me both Honda and Toyota are top notch cars for reliablility. And if you think mine is a crooked, all in one mac looking install, then consider this: In some people’s opinion, what I have done by putting a computer screen that “potentially” plays videos where the driver can view it, to be illegal, so that would make me inherently crooked. And in some people’s opinion I’m a serious Mac Daddy of sorts. So, I guess it fits. Seriously, anyone can say whatever they want. The facts remain, I’m proud of what I have done, I like what I have done, and nothing anyone says to the contrary is going to hurt my feelings. We all have opinions, and sometimes (let me stress “sometimes”) the best ones to hear are the ones that we don’t want to hear. Just like, I don’t agree with Meatloaf, I would not do anything for love, but I would do that. See, it’s the same thing.
