I don't know where you were looking, but the base Civic has a MSRP of $14,500 and 140 HP. To compare the tC to a Civic as a sports car, you need to compare the Si. The Si is ~$20K, and to get a tC equiped kinda the same takes you to $18,500 and you are still 40HP and 190W short. The midlevel Civic (LX) coupe would be a decent comparison. 2006 Civic LX Coupe The thing I liked about the Civic vs the tC was the 32/38 MPG instead of 22/29 for the tC. 10 MPG! As an aside, I've averaged 34MPG for my car so far.Originally Posted by Escalade182
I was looking for a good car for a college student, and the Civic won by being more comfortable, better equiped, cheaper to buy and cheaper to own. My insurance is about $600 a year less with my 4dr Civic than it would have been with the tC, and with the better fuel efficency I save at the pump.
Also, I know the Honda will last 10 years or a couple hundred thousand, which ever comes later. At my current rate, I'll be at 200K in 10 years.
