nice dash
where you you put the pc.. ???
I am new here, but I just completed my Jeeputer and thought I would post it.
Here are the Specs of the system as it stands right now:
- Sumicom Computer with P4 2.0Ghz CPU
- 60GB laptop Hard Drive
- Tiny keyboard from a playstation 2
- Soundblaster Audigy 2NX sound card
- Phobos GPS receiver
- Alpine Sirius Satellite interface, modified with one of these: http://www.rush2112.net/
- Lilliput 7" touchscreen, modified to automatically turn on
- 300 watt amp directly connected to the Audigy. There is no head unit.
- Carnetix 90 watt DC power regulator/startup shutdown controller
Here is a completed picture of the install after a couple days of use:
I don't know if you can tell from that picture, but I relocated the lilliput buttons to the bottom of the bezel, and have them contuored to stick out from the bezel. You can see that a bit better from this picture where it is not yet installed:
A complete worklog, with pictures of each step of fabrication is located here: http://www.pragmaticutopia.com/index...d=110&Itemid=1
The PC is very small, about the size of a cd-rom drive, and it is sitting under the passenger seat. The amplifier is sitting under the drivers seat, though that is a very tight fit.
Also, if you look in the top picture, you can see a ghostly white face in my screen. That is because my Jeep is haunted. True story.
I don't know what the grand total would be, but its not all that much. The bezel was very cheap to make - it just required some bondo, glue, primer, and paint.
As far as computer and components, those were purchased at market prices from Ebay or newegg.com.
