wow, 13 pictures of the outside of the car. you had to be asked what type of computer you are running and where it is. still no pictures of the computer. maybe you should focus on posting a "REAL Show off Your Project"

anyway, this install is the same as a laptop on a gooseneck stand. police and other cars have been doing that for years.

When I was talking to Miss Cleo last night and she confirmed for me that you are in fact a cop groupie. She said you failed out of the police academy, but all of your friends are police officers. I lost reception on my phone before I could ask if they let you try on their uniforms.

HAHA. ROFL. Freeland u got me dying on the floor. haha. I don'tthink it matters if its our definition of a carputer. All that matters is that hes got a touch screen and can run RR on the "computer" that exists somewhere in his 5-0 ride.

But i agree with enforcer...this in no way shape or form is a REAL carputer !!!!

That said...i think its okey...and it look standard for any police car. My cousin is a police officer, and i did see the inside of a police car (from the back seat LOL !!!!!!!!!!). But i have to bash you on the pictures of the car on the street....i mean wtf ??????????? We all see enought police car on the street and then try to drive all nicely to avoid getting pulled over........why the hell do you think i want to see pictures pictures of a police car on this site?????? besides theres nothing special about it...... one picture will do (actually no picture will do also )
wow, that is one wierd install... nice job?.... btw, i hate fake carputers

lol.. it's a MDC manufactured by Data911, it's a "commercial" "carputer", although designed specifically for durability, and simplicity, for emergency services,it still runs windows, therefore it can run any windows program...

it's a K63-400,128MB,12 gig, very UNimpressive, but it does the job, you done need anything much faster to run crap through MILES/NCIC/WALES,and spit out reports....

pictures of the actual computer... thats a good idea... I'll have to do that... for now... I'll give you a "factory" picture....

the one I have is an older model, and doesnt quite look like that, it is installed in the glovebox....

everyone takes external pics of their car, and includes them with install photo's, there's nothing wrong with that, yeah, maybe one or two wouldve been fine, but I'm detail oriented....

police car or not doesnt change the fact that it's one hell of an ugly peice of automotive crap. i mean - look at the overhang at the back!!! u wanna fit what... 5 crims in the boot too?!

hmmm at least in the boot the hillary duff might not be so loud...
hehe.. yup.. it's got a 6 body trunk.....

in the US we LOVE our rear wheel drive sedans......

    thats extreme

do u drive with aluminium foil foil on ur head to stop aliens reading ur brain?
huh? where did that come from??

anyway, this install is the same as a laptop on a gooseneck stand. police and other cars have been doing that for years.
uhh.. it's integrated into the car, permanently installed, audio is routed to the stereo, mic is installed for voice input, I FAIL to see the laptop correlation.

When I was talking to Miss Cleo last night and she confirmed for me that you are in fact a cop groupie. She said you failed out of the police academy, but all of your friends are police officers. I lost reception on my phone before I could ask if they let you try on their uniforms.
WOW! for once, miss cleo got it wrong?? how is that posible?!?!she's always right!! /sarcasm

Looks nice, but how often do you tune to WHCA?

well , there's one of my zones in my spectra, answer your question??

I'll go grab some pics of the maze that is my glovebox....

Very nice install. It fulfills all the criteria of being a custom install despite the obvious blatent hate for the police that is being directed at you. What frequency do those police bands operate at?

Could I pick up their signal with a 2M HAM radio?

motorola has a "VRCH" or a virtual radio control head, in other words, you use the computer to control the radio, which I will be installing shortly, HOWEVER, you still need "the buttons" in case the computer crashes, and the mics too.....

same with the emergency lighting.... if the MDT crashes for whatever reason, then I have no lights, you need to have a manual backup... switches are manual....

and about the "can I listen to police on a 2m ham radio" .......

    #1.depends on where you are
#2.depends on what "2m ham radio" you have
    and....
#3, the very fact that you asked that question, leads me to believe you dont know what amateur radio is, are NOT a licensed amateur radio operator, and is NOT someone who should be "listening to police bands".... if you want to "listen to the police bands" go buy a scanner, it'll be cheaper...
