is there a mirror reflection on that screen or is it just lighting that made that effect??
The car, yes I know she needs paint. The plan is to get her painted all black and pull all the police crap off and make an Impala SS clone. And no the police cars around here are not black and white, I dont think theres a department in the state that uses black and white cars. I am not one of the jerks that drive around with antennas and strobe lights trying to act/look like a cop.
The computer,
Morex 3688B Mini-ITX Case - Black
VIA EPIA MII10000 Mini-ITX Motherboard with CF and PCMCIA (MII10000)
Transcend PC2100 / DDR266 memory 256 MB for EPIA M/ML/MII/PD
Notebook 2.5" Hard Drive 40GB Fujitsu 5400rpm
Quanta SBW-243 Slimline CD-RW / DVD Drive
CarNetix CNX-P1290 Dual Output 90 Watt 12V DC-DC Regulator
And the monitor, an 8" Chinese touchscreen from ebay.
All these parts have been sitting around in my basement for the last few months, Ive been too lazy and its been too cold out to install it. But for whatever reason I got motivated and started working on it. Ive been working on it after work for the last few nights, its been cold and dark and it feels really good to have it working.
First thing was to pull the dash to get the new head unit installed, I also had to fix some crappy wiring the police left behind when they gutted their equipment and I got to change a lightbulb thats been burned out since Ive had the car. The plastic is cheap and I broke some clips for the lower dash, Im sure that wont help the already horrible rattling, thanks GM!
New cheap ugly pioneer unit installed with me holding the aux in cable and the power + acc wires on the ground.
The first startup of the computer.
Got the monitor screwed down and in place, Im not sure If I am going to leave it here or not it would be nice to get it a little higher and into the dash. Theres a piece of wood there under the rubber floor I didnt drill into the floorpan/trans hump.
This makes me happy.
Im going to take some more pictures in the morning with a real camera and update this post. Im just really happy that I got this installed with very little complications and I owe that to these forums, thank you.

Looks pretty good so far. You might have room for a 10.4" screen in that location. Lilliput makes one for about $260. Most folks don't know about it so here's a link:

9C1, good deal.
Didn't know 96 Caprices had a digital speedo. Gonna swap that out for an analog since you're gonna do a clone? And get rid of the column shifter?

Yea its just the reflection and its really bad in the day. I need to tint the windows anyways so hopefully that will help.

I got a 96 9c1 aslo. I say leave it as is. Making a clone to me is a waste of $$$.
