See, the stereo is pretty much completed, everythign else is a off shoot of the comptuer system now. with PC Anywhere, i can, for now, use my Pocket PC to control the desktop of my computer, relieving me of the absolute need for an LCD. I can get everything in an a few weeks, tops. However, i can also wait, do it well enough to integrate everything as i planned. Finally, i can go with the original porject design and finish off strong and impressive.

I'm not at a moment of weakness or anything, i'm just done with the second most major part of this system and pretty much done with the first. Everything else is, at this point, well, fluff. Really freaking awesome fluff, but nonetheless, fluff.

Right now as it goes, i can get the stereo installed when everything is delievered. Hopefully the beginning of march will give me more time and better weather

The complete software/hardware integration is still some time away and can technically be done later. Mid Spring is the estimated date if i do everything right, especially as my brain can take thinking more and more and harder and harder. It would be, well, impressive.

The orignal system plan will take, at the very LEAST, summer. All in all, it can go in eariler, true, but personally, i woudlnt' mind getting it in all at once as, well, i'll leave the project probably and move on... In the end, when software integration is complete, it will go in mid summer, but it really needs to be there for the psuedo AI system to be in place correctly...

I'm not sure what you mean by semi-AI to be honest.. when it comes to a media center, entertainment PC in my car.. I want to be the only inteligent being doing the controling.

Its has the passibility of intelligence, but it not truly self concious. It does as its programmed to do, nothing more. It will react to its enviroment, and, hopefully, understand complex questions, although we know it can answer simple ones. It has quite a bit though in it, including programmed emotions. AIML based. Lol, i totally get you, can't let the machines take over. The Matrix taught us that!

All in all, progress has been slow due to funds. However, progress in terms of user interface and whatnot has made some interesting turns, including a VR glove with gesture based controls . World's highest tech driving gloves...

lol, read the latest updates. a few key changes, every importnat stuff. Pics are there, but not in here. soon though. mostly screen shots though. Seriously, when that motor swap is complete, the carputer will be too. then there'll be so many pics and vids, i'll need have hosting The plan is to clean out my garage and then WEBCAST the isntalls as we do do my girlfriend's car (stereo only) and my car (carputer + stereo) at the same time, with like 4 people helping us over the weekend.

Rihgt nwo i'm back in the celica using the x50 as the "carputer" Its handling it sown nicely.

I just put brand new tires on my G, my old ones were bald as hell.. even a little gas to first gear and they'd slip like crazy..

So do you have a carputer in yet or are you in development or what's going on? I want to see yours. The biggest problem i have right now is that there's limited space to do everything i want. Hell, i evn considered an SBC at one point. I just bought the dock for the R51 today and i'm not wodnering where i'm going to put it. Its a neccessity so i dont' regret it, but still...ya know...the G ain't like a oldsmobile or caddy
