The red thing,,, is kust fibreglass, I think its called isopon p-40 fibreglass filler.

I roughly mounn=ted the screen where i wanted it to go with some masking tape, then from the rear, i filled it up with some fibreglass, and let it set, when i pulled the masking tape off, thats what you left with.

To get the facia off, you have to pull the radio out first using a set of "pins" or a couple of thin nails or whatever you can use, there are 4 screws behind it which hold the facia in place, take these out, then im pretty sure the only thing holding the facia in place are 3 clips which just pop out if you lever the face off.

if you need any more help, give me a shout..

the fibreglass, is a mixture of firbreglass particles and resin, you add hardener to it, it comes out like a sticky goo,,,, then you mould it to the shape you want, then it sets hard like plastic..

I sugest you visit this section,

the dvd i am using is a slot loading laptop dvd combo, i think its a panasonic CW-8121-B I bought it off ebay, but it seems to work fine.

Since your DVD drive is not USB, what kind of cable do you run back to your Motherboard? Isnt that too long of a stretch for IDE?

In order to connect the laptop dvd rom to the computer in the boot (or the "trunk" for you yanks...lol ) I had to use a convertor to convert the laptop drive to ide, then another convertor ide to usb, then i just ran a long usb lead into the "trunk"

    ebay to the rescue again!
