It doesn't work. It asks for your login details...

I saw you are using a laptop, and I was wondering what you used to wire up the power button? Because I want to do the same with my laptop since it's a hassle to open the lid and push the button.

    Thanks
a few of you are wondering this,
    what i did was.
    got 3 wires.
open the laptop to get at the mother board.
    removed the startup/ shutdown/ suspend/ circut,
the circut was wired to the motherboard via a 16 pin lead.
after much trail and error i realised the pin no 16 was the negiative pin,
if pin number 14 was touched with pin no 16 then the laptop would power off(when its not being charged)
if pin no 15 was touched with pin no 16 then the laptop would be turned on, or come out of hirbernation.

i wired the 3 wires to sowing pins and placed the pins into socket no 14, 15 and 16 in the mother board

expended these wires to the front dash and used 2 push to make switchs.
one switch (green) made a temp join of pins 15 and 16 to turn it on, the other switch (red) made a temp join of pins 14 and 16 to turn it off.

    Hope this helps

Well, I live in Colorado and I was wondering what kind of wire you used. But also, is there someone I can take my laptop to that would be able to do this for me, for a fee, I don't mind paying, I just see a lot of people who mess up the mobo in the process and have to buy a new one. So does anyone know by chance?

any wires will do, i used speaker wire, as for getting some one to do this , i really douth it as its not a normal process, the only people who would feel comfortable playing with the motherboard of your laptop would be the people who built it.

if you do decide to do it self in the end let me know and i'll post a few pictures of the modifications i did to my "mobo", i wont be able to do this for another 2 weeks as i'm in my degree year of software development.

keep an eye here and i'll post up the pics when i get a chance
