you need a heat gun to shrink the wrap around the joints. Slide them over the wire, over hte joint, then aplly heat, they will shrink.

After you have your two wire ends bare and ready to solder, cut a length of shrinktube that's going to be long enough to cover the joint and slide it onto one wire,(back about an inch or two so the heat from the soldering iron doesn't shrink it first) solder your wires, slip the shrink over the join......and grab a $1.29 bic lighter and play it a few inches away from the tube until it shrinks. You could use a heat gun as Red suggests,as well.

If heat gun is not available, use hair dryer and set to hot (I only use it once).

I use that method all the time but not a BIC lighter. That too expensive for me. 5/pack at 99 cents store work fine.

one issue with flame is that you really risk burning a hole in the shrink tube. it CAN be used, we've done it before in a pinch, but it's no way to properly do the install. A heat gun isn't all that expensive.

Well I did it this past Friday. Just hadn't had the chance to report back. I used my wife's hair dryer
    And here's the end result:

A lot less noise coming from the speakers so it all worked out great. Thanks guys for giving me that push.

    Here you go...

First off, I used speaker wire, second off I am stupid

    AND it was fused.

It fryed the power and ground wires, but look where it goes from speaker wire to electrical wire (red).
