First off great looking build...secondly Im new to Carputers and I was curious on why you ran the alpine headunit instead of using audio software and running it all from the pc? I am working on building a show truck that will be a full blown custom and I would like to run it all from the pc but Im not sure...

I don't like having to rely on the computer to do the audio processing. I can have the computer off and still listen to CDs/Radio.

I'd recommend starting off for a show or two in the Basic class.

    Overhead screen

First of all i would like to say that i have made some attempts at the kind of install you have done in the past with about 1/4 the success. I now have a 2007 Tahoe and am considering a basic car pc install. I wonder if you have any problems getting the rear seat overhead screen that is OEM to work with the car pc. I have two small kids so i need that screen for long trips. I have read on the forums that there are adapters needed if you remove the stock head unit but nothing about how to still feed video to the overhead screen. Any help would be appreciated.

I never tapped into the rear monitor though I don't think it would have been very hard, just need to find out what the composite video line is on the wire harness and make an adapter plug.

You do need an adapter to get the On-Star to work and if you plan on using the Bose system.

I think I still have mine if you need one on the cheap.

How has the HDD handled the bass? I have been wanting to install a pc/laptop in my car for a while now but wasn't sure how well hdd's would handle alot of bass.

    Thanks,
