I love that fujitsu tablet... awsome idea for that mount, but how can it be returned to stock if you had to make a hole in the dash for the bracket? or is that an existing hole?

It was there I guess for the passenger airbag sensor or something which my car doesn't have. I saved the original plastic cover and made a new one.

Tablets are really good for carpc setup. All you need is get creative and make some good car mount for it. And the passive touchscreen is big+ for in-car use.
Ohh, BTW your idea for the mount is really good. Bud, please, make it look better.

lol - being a minimalist, i just wanted functionality over asthetics. quite honestly, if the ******* mount was pink with red polka dots, i'd still be using it in my car and posting pictures of it on here! lol! my car isn't a show car so i wasn't worried about the looks one bit. the only reason i put the bandana on there was so it wouldn't scratch my $2400 tablet. ;]

the "second version" of the mount i am making now is going to be much more "sturdy" than my current one - which isn't so bad in the first place. and yeah, i think i MAY spend the extra $1 to beautify it... if i feel like it... hahaha =P

have fun with the tablet tho! quick question - can your passenger sit normally with the tablet in place? like does it go over their lap or anything?

my tablet with my mount, the only small issue is that my right knee and passengers left knee sorta brush the bottom of the tablet - but only once in a while. not a huge issue but the newer version of my mount will try to put the tablet a single inch higher eliminating that little problem ;]

l0l Gizmo... When people sit in my car and see my tablet mounted there, the only thing they think is - omg! how cool! then i show them i have music, movies and navigation at my fingertips! no one really says anything about the mount... heh... now that you quoted me, i feel like finding a pink with red polka dot bandana just to show that i dont give a flying you know what! lol

I thought having the tablet in there would make everyone happy but my gf and cousin constantly complain at how 'difficult' it is to use the tablet when the car is moving...

    my solution?

I now keep the tablet pen with me. when someone wants to go change the song and look for the pen, i smack their hand and ask them what they wanna listen to. i am in control of the tablet since i have the most "interface" experience with it and dont find it difficult to use when driving... l0l.. I hate complainers..

Gizmo - do you have any pics of your setup?

I agree with you on the complainers. My solution was to make it seem much more complicated than it is and now they ask before touching. My gal has actually figured out the main switches on the gear shift and uses those instead of the touchscreen (she doesn't like fingerprints on the screen any more than I do.) I can't find the pics in the Mercedes, and I haven't taken any good ones of the mustang, but the pictures of the caddy are in this thread

Give me a couple weeks and I should be ready to do a full spread on the mustang. I just ordered the last audio component and will install it when I get back home. It's specs are going to be awsome!

Another thing the haters can't stand about us tablet users is our portability. I use my system almost everywhere. My three cars all have docks and joysticks, but I bought a spare GPS cable and when I take a trip, I just unplug a GPS head from one car and grab my cigarette lighter adapter and cassette adapter and I'm good to go in a rental car, friends car, airplane or boat. Hell, I writing this from my tablet while on the beach at Waikiki. Lets see a stealth install do that. Last year, my kids and I got lost walking around Paris and my son (16) asked for the tablet and GPS, created a route to the train station we needed, tucked the GPS in his hat, and had turn by turn directons all the way Another laughable incident was our US southern coast tour the year before - everyone brought their own tablet (my kids both have 1600s), all running RoadRunner, but each with a different skin and every hour we rotated who got to plug in to the car headunit while all three were networked and had fulltime internet through my sprintcard. I'm sure folks seeing us going down the highway thought we were a family of geeks in a vert Benz.
