Well, not really sure where to put this post so i figured it might go in here even thou i still havent finished it.
this project is now well on its way and it started as a small interest in carputers then a university thesis and now a full on system slowly being implemented!
one of my first problems was the fact that all this hardware is good to have and to use but whats the use after its stolen. before i go on i must credit Greenbeast's install as his boot mod gave me most of the ideas.
well here are the pictures: -
its nothing special really but it will do, under the covers is a Helix Dark Blue 5ch Amp and a p4 2.4ghz system, im still trying to make my mind up about what screen i wanna buy, but thats another issue for a different post. feedback is welcomed.be nice!

Cant code cause I dont know how, but give me the paint bucket and my eraser and have at you!
thats more or less exactly what im planning
because its the same idea as mine
mad props to u, hah
Thanks, as for the screen, i placed an order with linitx for one of their 7" touchscreen's, gonna get it fabed into the dash for an OEM finish. just incase anyone was wondering...
i wanna hide the hinges so i might either paint them grey or more likely make a thin cover for it using very thin flexible MDF and the same speaker carpet to match the sides of the boot.
anyone in the london area that wants to see it, i am more than happy to meet you somewhere in east or north london...

I have mk5 jetta, and boot is massive so i am debating whether i should do something like you did, or have a it suspended on top, above (my car isn;t hatchback)

Yea the mk5 jettas are lovely, there is alot you can do with them!
i'd say stick your kit along the bottom, it will raise the boot by alot but its worth it, it took a few friends about 10mins just to realise what i done to the boot so it is a good feature to have in a car pc setup.

Stupid question, how did you fix the mobo in the wood itself??
well its actually a good question, i cut a spare atx case i had to the shape of the mobo and earthed it to the body of the car, then i use those metal stand offs to mount the mobo, the cut case is screwed into the wood via holes i made and as an extra i hot glue guned it into place, the pictures dont show much as they current pictures were at an earlier stage.
ill try and remember to take some more as im going to get the power hooked up to the amp and pc and get my speakers and sub installed along with my screen which im going to have to figure out what im going to do with it as i dont really wanna use fiberglass to stick it in place but rather if i can, abs plastic...

looks good but one problem....are you panning on using any PCI cards as they may not fit right as they overhang the moitherboard.
well you can go with side pci adapter, in his case
PCI's are important, especially if you want dual video card, and better audio
if he would cut few openings he wouldn't have problem with side adapter
