2001 Toyota Solara (In Progress)

Ok this is my first attempt, so dont be to harsh. I'm having a blast doing it though. The biggest issue so far has been the lilliput screen. I thought I killed it. When I reassembled it it was dead. The problem was the ribbon cable that connects the buttons.

ok here we go...

Pulling the cover off was surprisingly easy. I actually started doing it while driving home from work

Another pic. The smudge really shows up in the picture. doesnt look bad in person. Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging the plastic? its plastic cement.. I underestimated how well it would work... my bad! :P

Still working on figuring out how to auto power the screen on. I dont have the same model as the solder method demo shows. I'm hoping that I have the programmable one. AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT MINE WAS PROGRAMMABLE!
I have to run the wires for the amp and mount everything in the trunk. Then I should be good to go!... AMP IS MOUNTED! (STILL NEED TO MOUNT THE COMPUTER, BUT THE CASE IS DONE) PIX TO COME

Wow looks excellent.... Very "stock" and factory.... Did you paint the Lilliput? I cant really tell from the pictures, perhaps if you get a close up picture >hint< >hint<

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes I painted the lilliput. You can buy paint at Home Depot for 5 bucks. It has the texture inside it. I can post the brand name if you like. I'm at work now so I will have to do it tonight

There's a mod for some lilliputs to auto power-on by changing a setting in the menu. I forgot how exactly since I did it to mine a loooooooong time ago, but you should be able to find it by searching.

I want to get one of those but right now i'm stuck with my 24-channel peavey (gross)

doesn't look bad, but you might be able to duraglass that in, and make that look amazing.

I love it. Great for recording. The peavey is probably better than what I was using prior to going mackie

even without the paint, the lilli texture/color is almost identical to the solara dash.

makes it real easy nah?

Duraglass you say? can you explain further

Duraglass is similar to bondo with fiberglass in it, it's easy to use like bondo, just much stronger.

what do you record?

oh cool. Maybe on my second attempt, or maybe if I get sick of looking at this one...

I record everything. My background is mainly rock, but I've done just about everything you can think of. My last project was a Hip Hop CD. I did the beats and recorded the artist.

How bout you?

BTW: I'm looking for an extension cable to take my monitor from the dash to the trunk. Any suggestions?
