Mi name is Miguel and I live in Spain. I have a 2004 Cadillac CTS and I'm crazy about installing the carputer. I have all the components and I also checked the page http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mattbai/ that is also really good. Your project looks great so can you please add me as a friend to let me check your page?. My main points are how to get the sound through the speakers and also how to put all the components inside the original radio chassis. I even purchased a radio to do it without disassembling the original unit from the car but I don't want to break anything.
    Can you help?

    Audio Through Speakers

Cadillac Cts 2004 - Carputer Project

    Hello,

At last I have my carputer running and I had the time to post about the custom harness to drive the audio from the computer through the factory speakers. Have a look to this link or visit my blogs below to find more info.

I'm currently using CENTRAFUSE but I have modified a skin for the ICT just in case CF expired (too expensive if they keep their current prices policy). I never tried RoadRunner, do you recommend it?

    audio through the speakers?

Have a look to my own thread to find the drawings for the installation.

As I explained, you must use any of the empty power sources from the fuse case under the backseat. Under the central console we located 3 fuses and their input is positive (+).

    Yellow 20 A Additional amplifier

    Red 10 A Switch carputer on/off

    Orange 5 A Switch audio relays on/off

To commute the audio signal we must use 2 paralell relays (8 pins)

All the signals from the factory radio ISO to the relays are positive, commuted by the switches located on the cover of the central console (I/O). From the relays we take the audio to the factory amplifier ISO.

However, if you don't feel confident enough to do it by yourself I recommend taking this drawings to an audio shop and they will be able to it for you.

    Good luck.

    audio

Sure, if you are not using two audio sources you don't need to switch between them ... but what if you don't turn on the pc or it's damaged, remember that we pulled out the CD player as well so you wouldn't have any audio.
