My latest creation. Hopefully I get to use it when I get my own CarPuter

acura cl - Thanks for the nice comments. I spent about 4 days completing what you see, but at the most I only worked 1-2 hours a day. We're doing this project completely after working hours and that's why it's taking so long.
Give me your email so I can send you both the booscreen and the progress bar.
The OEM head unit was replaced right after the car was purchased. My friend had an Eclipse GPS unit that fit right on the OEM opening. We replaced this unit with the carputer. No headunit will be used since he has two amps.

What buttons would I add?????
hmm dont know
when u dont need some buttons then u dont add buttons but mostly the on/off button is needed or some buttons that have been on this place before cleaning or take out a keyboard, stick on the controller and place the F-buttons or enter or neon lights or...
??? What are you talking about????
Looks great. I also have an 05 FXT so I'll probably want to see how you did the fabrication.
BTW: STI Tranny + forester XT = DROOL
The fab was pretty simple. The XT dash is perfect for a 7" screen. We could have just left the screen on the back side and held in place with something, but I liked the OEM look and we decided to mold it into the dash. What I did was to first cut some plastic off of the recess part where the stereo goes in because it was too deep. I placed the front panel of the screen against the dash making sure it was right where I wanted it.
After that I placed resin on the rear of the screen to hold the front face in place. The resin dried like rock and held the screen perfectly. In the front, I covered the screen with bondo leaving the angle that you see. I must have placed 3-5 coats of bondo until it was flushed with the dash. Then, I just sanded and sanded away until I achieved the viewed results. I'll post some pics of the rear and once it's painted as well.
