The orientation of the HDD, being that its vertical, doesn't harm the drive at all as this is how its normally mounted in some cases. My friends car has lowered suspension, and hits its bump stops on occasion, so Im just taking "precautionary" measures to protect the drive. This is my first carputer install, and I guess its a learning curve. If I screw the HDD from mounting it in that way and surrounding it in foam... so what!! Ill be paying for it and learning in the process.
A lot of people on here have suspended their drives with elastic bands and whatever for shock. All ive done is surround it with a little foam and everyone gets fired up! haha :-)
