Look at the photo just below the sentence "I had to rip everything out...". I've mounted it right behind the left wheel housing. It sits behind metal, but it locks on 8 / 10 satelites thou, so it works pretty well. (upgraded to a bu-353 last week)

The fan blows the hot air out of the sparewheel compartment. It gets in from pretty much everywhere... Here is a better pic:

    Couple few questions...

Did you originally have the Climatronic on the top? If so, where the cables long enough to move it to the bottom?

Did you only have to change the trim plate around the radio or the 'frame' inside the dash also?

Last one... How much depth did you have in the mounting hole in the dash?

    TIA and nice work.

I'm not quite sure what you mean (suppose you mean the trimplate around the climatronic) , but that doesn't matter. I had to change them all.
