For some reason I want to say you can remove the inner bits of the dash too, not just the trim, I could be wrong.
I was hoping for a good 6.5-7 inches depth there.
Thanks for answering my questions. I also have a '98 Passat and was hoping to fit a mini-ITX motherboard in the dash.
I'll give it a try one of these days. Hate to get back into the electrical on this car (Passats are so fickle). After my speaker and amp install I still have troubles.
Did you fab that bezel yourself or were you able to find one?
