'97 Ford Mustang Cobra
First off, credit for the screen mounting concept goes to XStremeSteel, check out his project at:
I like the simplicity of the install that he did, and it comes out super clean with minimal hacking.
The only thing that I did differently was to make some simple 'L' brackets to secure the climate controls to the metal under dash structure.
Xenarc 700TSV 7" Touchscreen LCD
Via EPIA EN-15000G mobo in a VOOMPC case
512mb RAM, 40GB HD
I removed the old head-unit/CD player, relocated the climate controls to the spot that the old CD player was installed, and glued in the Xenarc headrest bezel with some very hi-temp hot glue (the 300deg f stuff). The audio from the EN15k is wired directly to the factory Mach 460 amps.
My main reason for installing the carputer is being tired of carting around a laptop to tune the car... which is using a MegaSquirt programmable EFI box. Now I have in-dash tuning capabilities! I'll also be installing Centifuse to replace the audio that I'm missing now that my cd/head unit is gone.
The information on this forum is invaluable, and I couldn't have set this thing up without it!!!
Great setup! That headrest mount makes it look OEM. And god damn that is a large snail in there! T-72 or something? Last year I just sold my 01 GT w/Vortec blower and built engine. Put down 523whp. Looks like yours puts out well north of that. :D

Clean install and beautifullllll snake :)
Nice setup. Nicer motor. :P
Thanks for the compliments guys...much appreciated!
What company's turbo kit is that? Or is it a custom job? Looks similar to the PTK kit, but not exactly. The '97's had the teksid aluminum blocks so you've got quite a foundation to work off of. Can't believe you've had enough retrainst not to turn the boost up past 15psi. Not dogging you, I can certainly understand why you would want to keep the boost low, I just don't think I would have the self restraint when its as easy as the turn of a knob to increase the boost. What are some of the other stats on the car? Are you still running stock internals? Stock or built tranny?
I think I need to change my underwear after seeing that engine :) Beautiful man! Nice!

The kit is an MMR custom kit, which I modified when I switched to the automatic...
The car actually does have forged internals (Manley H-Beams, JE 9.2 Pistons). So turning it up shouldn't be an issue. I've also transplanted a 4r70w, which I built up myself with PA upgraded internals, a PA valve body w/transbrake (for when I do go to sticker tires), and a PI Stallion 9" torque converter.
On street tires, the cars gone a best of 11.60@127mph, with a crappy 2.2 60ft time (at 3500ft elevation)... I think it's got a bit more in it, even at 15psi!
Thats quite a ride you have there man. I can totally understand where you're coming from about the street tires. That much power is a handfull on street tires. Nice install and nice ride. Congrats.
