Drooling over the xr6 you got there
I thought it was 13.6 or somethin stock??
The only thing missing there is injectors and fuelpump oh exhaust if you havent touched that! Id say 440-460hp though
Old mans got a APS stage 2 mods on his xr6t falc atm man you'll love it!
    Hello Gents,
Ok, firstly, it's the F6 Automatic, (FPV Tornado), not standard Turbo XR6. So automatically you have around 30-40kW on the rears more with the F6 FPV than the stock XR6T. Another thing, the Manual does around 13.5s stock, that's why I say the auto is a bit quicker, nominally 12.7-13.0's on the 1/4. Even with 2sec 60ft times, it is still impressive

This thing has the big ZF Auto from Germany, which is an absolute amazing box. Agreed, all else being equal, on a top-end road-race car, with all things being equal, a manual will win due better power efficiency.

But, be not fooled, no manual can ever shift as fast as a auto. Period. Doesn't matter who the driver, or which manual box.

@ Scott FX: Have a looky atSimon from Nizpro in Bayswater, the ultimate 4liter inline 6 guru in Melbourne - and probably the best in Australia.

For around $7995- Aud he will get you around 330rwkw...on a stock XR6 engine - the limitation being conrods which will bend and break due to high BMEP's. Now, the F6 engine, is another beast all together - it has much better/beefier rods from the factory.

With the same Stage 2kit, it will make a safe 385kW on the rear wheels, my plan is slightly more, (but not limited to) 400kW on the rears.

How - look at the Stage 2kit's list of spares, including slightly larger injectors, new Intake manifold, larger intercooler, and I will add decent H-Beam conrods, new fuel pump, and of course CAPA flasher with edit.

Guys, before anybody says this is unbelieveable, have a look through Nizpro's forums, and you will see with stage 5 kit these guys makes 1100hp+ from these motors. I don't want to go there, it is useless on the street, in a road-racer, you can't use that much power.

Again, when I mentioned minor tweaks, I was referring to the stage3 kit, at $7995 Aud it is only minor tweaks, you have to admit

Hehe, it's fun anyways, admittedly big V8's (my favorite) will make much more power when boosted, I don't dispute that. But, this car will idle at 750rpm, give me 11l/100kph fuel consumption, yet still run a 1/4 in 11.8 or better when complete.

Anyway, I have realized many years ago you either have a drag car only, or a roadracer - I prefer the latter.

Someone here asked for 1/4mile proof of et's - go browse around fordxr6turbo.com, and a few other Oz websites regarding F6 and XR6 performance, and you will be amazed what you will find.

Enjoy the day, I am of to a computer swapmeet. Be back later.

    edit: Extract from Nizpro's website

Increased boost to a still low .9 Bar
(Note: that due to the severe intake restrictions with the factory product, that in stock trim the turbocharger is working much harder than the low .5 Bar factory pressure indicates. In fact, in an effort to overcome the inherent pressure drop it must run at close to .9 Bar)
    • NizEdit and custom tune
    • 6 x high performance fuel injectors
    • Custom cast alloy rocker cover garnish
    • Custom cast alloy intake plenum
    • Custom intercooler hoses
    • Cast alloy throttle body adaptor
    • Cast alloy thermostat housing
    • K&N air filter
    • Fibreglass air box
    • Injectors (XRT 350 and Stage 3)
    • Inlet Manifold Studs
    • Heat shrink
    • Oil breather hose
    • PCV hose
    • Hose clamps
    • Numerous cable ties
    • Odyssey battery
    • Battery box
    • Battery cable
    • Battery cable clips
    • Large intercooler
    • Inlet Manifold, Intercooler, Intake Manifold and Battery tray nuts
    • Brass fittings for plenum intake pipe, breather return hose and thermostat housing
    • Several bolts, washers, T-pieces, loom extensions, and an earth clip

Cobra’s Stage 2 kit reliably allows a BA XR6 Turbo engine to develop a healthy 395 kilowatts along with vastly more torque than, for example, an LS1 engine equipped 300kW Holden GTS. It not only achieves a 165-kilowatt power hike, Cobra’s Stage Two kit reliably delivers full power in almost all conditions and for extended periods of time.

Heat soak simply isn’t on the agenda, and this ensures absolutely no power loss during extended periods of enthusiastic driving. Don’t even bother trying this with any of the factory-enhanced kits! Significantly, of course depending on the vigour of your right foot, fuel consumption will not increase over the factory figures. Once again, achievements such as this typically are not available with systems that merely expand on factory theory.

With the new Mk 2 XR6, concerns about bent connecting rods at these power levels are quite limited. In fact, we are confident that even with the Series 1 XR6 Turbo, that due to the Stage 2 kit running a mere 14 psi boost (significantly lower than the Phase 3), of good engine service. This is not a guarantee of course, however testing has proven the engines are coping at these boost figures.

@ Scott FX: YOu said you were impressed earlier, look at the specs above to see what I have to do to get 385kW, or around 515 hp - that's on the wheels, not the flywheel Only significant changes really is bigger injectors, intercooler, and then a custom fiberglass inlet manifold that allows new less restrictive and shorter more responsive inlet piping.

As added security, I will add Wallbro pump, and then better H-Beam conrods, so that 450kW on the rears is possible with CAPA adjustments only - As mentioned, I would not want to go there, as traction would be a problem, and then the reliability of the gearbox would come into question. My intention with this UTE is a real sleeper. With around 390kW on the wheels, torque would be a bit high at around 800+Nm, so it is already going to tax the 750Nm rated ZF6 box.

Have fun guys, will keep you posted. Btw, I am 40, so no need for me to brag about non-exsistent plans, or goals that I cannot acheive. The only reason I have not had my vehicle in for the upgrade was due to Nizpro being shut over the holidays - they open tomorrow...

I see your point (didn't know it was a 6..thought it was a 4 for some reason) regardless...
The other 2 cylinders are hiding under the inlet tracts, and firewall - soz, should have made this clear from the start...

    Hey Scott,
Yep, we're way off-topic here, will open my own thread - soz to original poster :flowers:

I will be installing my Carputer, awaiting mini-gps card for my Commell LV-677 Board. PC up and running, Morex Cubid 2688 case, LV-677 board, 1gig ram, T5500 core 2 Dou Merom cpu, 100gig Seagate Momentum drive, Panasonic Slotloader Multiburner, Xenarc TSV700 LCD....

Got a cheapish WIFI card off ebay, not authenticating with WPA-PSK with D-Link router, just picked up a Linksys to see if it's better from Router perspective.

Still awaiting Commell mini-gps and mini-pci cards, ordered end Nov already, paid for, but Synrax Australia quite slow on this.

Need to follow up tomorrow. Will post a project log, need to get my @rse in gear. Oh yeah, got myself the very decent Autoenginuity OBD-II interface software, it supports the F6 out of the box - great.

Will post a log later this afternoon.

Oh yeah, no problem about the hard facts, you can't believe everything on te internet anyways.

I would appreciate comments etc in my thread, will start one this afternoon.

    Kind regards,
    Beanie.

I don't think this guy has motor work done either. He would have backed it by now. The turbo setup in the pic I posted earlier is the only economical way to get 300 hp from a 2.0ish liter 4 banger.

Also I don't care what kind of special, paddle shift, super-gyro, flipstick automatic trans you have it still is not better than a true dry clutch manual. You can add all the bells and whistles you want but its still not a replacement for a clutch pedal. Just my opinion, but no car of mine has ever had an automatic. I feel too disconnected with the car while driving an automatic. Ironically my WIFEs car always has an auto. . . Nice ford BTW.

that is pretty ambitious. my rx7 was super restrictive on the intake and exhuast side (precat and cat stock) and with the mods you spoke of i never saw another 200hp. hell, even with my enging rebuild i wasn't seeing another 200hp... how are you going to get that power? are you going to boost it to unsafe levels? you never even mentioned upgrading your stock fuel supply..i have a hard time believing that you'll get that horse power on stock injectors and pump
    and

it's an impressive car/engine but i still haven't seen proof.
    and

now to figure out how many "kw" are in a "hp"

edit: 385kw = 516.0857908847184.... i stand corrected well sort of...he still needs the fuel upgrades, but a very impressive engine to say the least
    Hello Guys,
Just a brief follow up on this:

I got my pick-up (UTE) sorted, and power upgrades complete. Please take not that numbers on dyno-graphs are rear-wheel numbers, not flywheel.

I settled for a conservative tune, left something for another day, if I get used to this levels.

Anyway, UTE made 368rwkw, or roughly 490hp on the threads, 16psi boost, and something silly like 530FtLb torque on the threads.

Add 22% to that, and you should get flywheel numbers

Just thought I'd stay honest, and post the numbers I earlier mentioned.

She pulls like a concorde, very nice, linear boost control, done via std ecu electronics and Capa flasher, and she is quite controllable, but if you hit the throttle, even in 2nd, she will loose all traction changing into 3rd in performance shift mode.

Quite the proverbial animal. Will post new pics of the engine compartment later.

edit: Will sort out my Photobucket Pro account hopefully today, then you can view images - soz guys.
    edit2: Ok, Photobucket sorted

    Enjoy.
