Well, I don't want to jinx it, but it seems that my project is mostly done. All the major issues have been resolved and there is only some minor software tweaking left. First of all let me thank this forum and some members in particular (Yev, i'm looking your way) for helping me in this project. This is absolutely the best resource there is on the topic. Pictures in this post are pretty shoty, I'll update if I have time on a good weather day.

Mini PC
1.5 Celeron M processor
512 MB DDR Ram
40 GB 2.5" HD
Toshiba MiniPCI wireless card
USB Bluetooth adapter
USB External Sound card Sounblaster Live
MTX 440 Amplifier
Lilliput EBY701-NP Screen
SIR-JVC1C module with Mitch's mod (Great work Mitch, works flawlessly)
7 port USB hub
Lots of wires and other little things off the shelf and home made.

For those wondering, the frame is the piece that took the longest time. All in all about 1.5-2 month it took me from starting to look for proper setup to finish.

Here is the end result (the foil over the sound card is my attempt at fighting RF interference from Wifi and Bluetooth):

First I found out that there is not enough space at the back of the glove box to fit VGA adapter and the actual VGA plug. For this I had to create a flexible adapter/extension. Here is the result:

Once that was done and everything fit and started working, I had some shutdowns related to heat. First I tried to cut out one side and top of the case, but no help. Then I decided to cut the other half and add the fans on the side. Now the issue seems to be gone. This is what the mod looks like:

The only two major things that are still missing in the project are:

1. No proper support for my pocket pc phone (wm5) in neither Phonecontrol nor in RRMobile yet. So I can't use it with my volksputer as yet.
2. I can't get the damn screen to auto turn on. I have one of those lilliputs that are like Ex-Audio clones (EBY701). Tried all codes and tricks from this board with no luck. Lilly people really need to get their act together and make it easy. Oh well, I'll think of something (suggestions are welcome

)

im attempting to do the same thing.
the only problem i have is how to turn on the AMP.

I have a 2006 Golf GTI. I cant work out how to turn on he dam AMP. I think it gets turned on via the CAN bus??

anyone ideas on this?
do you have a stock amp?

do you have a stock amp?

I have an aftermarket one that turn on with a remote (ACC) wire. My car came with basic radio (VE) so it didn't have an amp.

i am finishing the upholstery, for the seats, and doors, and decided to go with have the rear speakers in the back rack, rather than in the passenger doors

fabricating that one too,

I also managed to fit 19 HDTV monitor on the trunk lid, but that's just an excess to get me more sponsors.

i finally got a garage to work in, my friend went on vacation, and gave me his garage for 2 weeks, that would speed up my progress. Cause i got kicked by my condo boars association for indirectly killing my neighbors with fumes

It is the 2.0T, right?...same engine...only difference between the GLI is suspension, trim and seats...

That's a nice car! Good work so far, but if I were you I'd work a little more on the screen bezel...center it, sand it a bit more until all the curves are gone, and paint it with a mate paint, that glossy effect doesn't look stock.
