Here I have dremeled out 2 lines/holes in the inside of the storage area of the console. This will allow the wires from the LED's to lay flush. I will cover the wire and holes with bondo and sand. You will never know they are there.
Here is the console with one side of the unit glued and screwed. I need to dremel out some area inside the console to hide and bondo over some wires.

This is the unit fully glued and screwed together and partialy sanded (removable plates are sanded). I will let the glue set overnight. Next is a quick once over with the palm sander before I start bondo.
Hey man, this is looking great, really one of a kind. I just purchased a 2003 Crown Vic P71 and i want to do a very mod to my car. Your posts are very helpful and I look forward to seeing the final product. Keep up the good work.
Thanks ALLCITYSF_25!
Here are a few more pics of my progress. Here it is with the louvers glued to it. I just cut some triangles outta thin alum. flashing and used regular wood glue. Seems to hold nicely.

Here is a pic after the first coat of bondo, the first sanding and first primer layer. Starting to shape up now. The louvers are gonna turn out nice I think. There are some tiny areas that I need to still fill with some bondo and sand.
3 coats of bondo, lots of sanding and 2 or 3 layers of primer. Started sanding with a 400 grit paper now. Much smoother. The louvers DID turn out nice! (for a jack-leg n00by with no skills)...:-)
Here is the latest pic. Just finished sanding with 400 grit. ver smooth now. The irony is that most all of the finish will be covered in carpet. I just ordered the carpet. Black latex-backed. I will continue sanding and priming a few more times to smooth a bit more, and any touch-up bondo. Then paint black.
looks like it's coming together! you'll have to let me know how that carpet is. most automotive carpeting is unbacked which is what gives it it's flexibility. what are those louvers for again?
also what kind of LEDs are you using?
o' i can't wait to see this thing done!

Need to make something? Here are a few ideas.
The louvers are to hide the LED's..2 in front and 2 in rear, shine on the floor, seperate switches for front and rear. For illumination. The LEDs are 8mm blue with a 40 degree beam width. Ordered them with resistors already attached. Hope they are wide enough.
Thanks for the compliment.
