I love the way you've fitted everything into the centre console.

thanks. I think there is also a pint of blood and sweat in there somewhere

I like the installs where people fully integrate the screen and bondo it into their consoles, but I wanted to use the stock radio and equalizer and have less work with it.

I didn't know about this, I always had the MoBo sitting on the foam during software install and never had an issue, but wasn't thinking about static discharge
I now removed the foam and replaced it with some thin cardboard.

Glad to hear you like the install so far.

I looked at yours, it's gorgeous with the huge screen!
And I LOVE the control via the cell phone. I have a Sony K790/800i, do you think it could work with that as well? And what software did you use for that?
I also got your timer plugin for Centrafuse, a great addition! I am running CF RC5, does it work with that RC as well?

Ok, gotta go back to installing everything

The phone was easy with the sony there is a "developer kit" available that contains a program where you choose what keys you want the phones buttons to send to the computer then you create a "skin" for it. I think the site was developer.sonyericcson.com or something like that. It works the same way the desktop and media player remote profiles work that are already included with the phone, you are just making your own.

I got a new phone a couple of months ago (cingular 8525, cingulars version of the HTC Hermes) There are so many possibilities with the new pocket pc's it has me rethinking the entire way my carputer is setup.

To be honest i dont know if stopwatch works on the newest version of cf I have to update it, but have been working on finishing up CFiG first.

Good luck with the rest of your install, try searching for "sony developer kit" on the forums, I think that will turn up what you are looking for with the phone.
    My Install

    Software:
    CFiG v1
    iGuidance Plugin for CF

    CarShell
    Working shell for a CarPC

    StopWatch
StopWatch plugin remade for centrafuse RC1

I will have to look into the Sony stuff when I have more time. And I will check if the stopwatch plugin works and let you know.

Right now I am installing everything in the car, obviously finding some small issues. I have to slightly relocate the M1-ATX (tunr by 90°) and I had the usual noiser issues with the sound out to radio AUX in, getting lots of hissing, engine revving, HDD in the speakers and a really annoying high-pitched sound. A groundloop isolator seems to do the trick, proper grounding only made a small difference. My dad is resoldering the groundloop isolator right now, to properly fit. But overall, it's working

Cool Install! I dig the way you modified the batwing for the slot-load CD.

thanks. I think this was the overall hardest part to get right. The fit is extremelly tight, there is a big metal bracket which was almost in the way and had to be made to fit, .... Hours of work, fitting, refitting, getting the drive to being able to screw it to the cover, etc.

Quinrod - nice install - congratulations. Love the slot for the CD - nice touch.

I am just planning an install on my 2001 Boxster (but using a Carnetix P2140 and Mac Mini).

Could you tell me (with a photo if possible!) how you connected up the Power Supply? DiscobayJoe has been helping me out but I don't think that he's got to the PSU install phase yet.

sorry for the late reply. I was out of the country for a long time.
As far as power goes, there is a cable tucked behind the center console with a brown 4 wire connector. This gives you 12 V power directly where you need it. Check which wire is which (i forgot), and just hook it up to the DC-DC pwerinverter.
As far as I know, at some point Porsche didn't put this wire anymore, not sure if they still have it on a 2001
