    Is that sub cover breathable?

What about the voltmeter? That will be normal after the car has run a while and recharged the battery. During the first few minutes is when the voltage should read about 14.5 or so. As it charges back up the voltage drops down to about 13.5 or so. You really need a digital gauge to go by, the dash gauge kind of sucks.

I think you missed it, I want to make a cover like that out of grill cloth. or at least i think i do. That cover is my old one that i had (just for an example)

The voltage will drop into the red area on the right side (11 volts? ) I was thinking about getting a digital gauge in a 3 gauge pillar setup, but i really need to start saving for my bike.

So for now I'm going to clean everything up, get a second job and save for my bike
Hopefully next summer i'll get a major system overhaul with a new front stage and processor.

Yeah, I missed where you said you might want to build that. What's the purpose of wasting all that space? I'd make a flat cover about an inch or 2 higher than the sub. You could use expanded metal grill strong enough to stand on, then you could have some storage space as well as keep it hidden.

Ah, I didn't realize that was a video. I thought it was a picture. Is that while idling? That's kind of normal if your pushing the sub pretty hard. I think the stock alternator only puts out about 30 amps or so idling at 800 rpm. The 103 amps it's rated at only comes at much higher rpms.

You can use a DMM to more accurately measure it. For something more permanent, any little light up digital gauge will work and it doesn't need to always be visable. I have a red digital gauge built into my fuse/distribution block. Something like that is fine as well. It's not like you have to spend a lot of money on it.

I like the way it flows around the back with the cover.
you keep saying storage, i've never know another person that thought about storage in a f-body
    (I mean no disrespect)

That video is running at about 1800 rpms
It'll drop even worse at 850 rpms

Do you have the specs on what a higher output alternator would put out at idle? say a 200 amp or even a 150 amp.

I'm selling my X and i've decided to get 4 12" Type R's. I've got my first one and i'm working on a trade for 3 more. Heres the box that i've designed for them so far. More than likely it wont have the bottom part unless i decide that i need that little bit of air space.

And yes i know i'm never happy

Hey Drew, I haven't forgot about you man. I've had engine problems and the Insurance totaled my car so now I have a big check to get a new engine and it's been one hassle after another. Long story.

Anyway, I know I need to extend the cable 5", can you make sure that both the round discs on the ends turn the same direction? You know, if you turn the little end clockwise, the big end turns clockwise as well. That's the only thing I need to know to finish it.

BTW, I should be recieving my 3rd JBL sub Monday and I plan to go ahead and build the last sub box I designed. This post: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/1086967-post494.html
along with the giant 54" amp. I think I may mini-tub the rear for some 345 tires and to drop the car real low with air bags. I hope the stereo stuff will still fit. Man I miss cruising in my car, the stereo's in rental cars suck balls.

aww man sucks to hear about the engine. I'm glad you getting along with the new one and that i might be having a good f-body thread to get some ideas from. I'm not going to be able to check on that cable because i cut the end that goes under the dash so i could get it to stay on hot or cold.

It's my daily driver and I carry a full toolbox, wooden blocks to drive up on, plus some work gear. So I have to think about storage space. I also want to have a spare tire, too.

Alterstarts 235A alternator is rated to put out 120 amps at 800 rpm.
Their 200A unit will do 110 amps at 800 rpm. Way, way more than the stock alternator at idle.

I'm still looking for an engine. No joy. I may go with an all alloy 402 shortblock. Yeah, suck it Mustangs!

I think I can get the cable done. I just have been so busy.

I think i'll look into getting a 200A alt. I'd really like to add it and do a dual setup.

Wow i wish i was closer to you so i can see your car when you get it "finished" or even give you a hand once you start the new system

Like i said before i'm in no hurry, no one can tell it's not hooked up and my heat works for me so i'm happy.

What do you think about that box design jason? I'm worried that 2.5 inches on that shallow part might not be enough, but i haven't found anyone that knows or not so i'll pry just build it and see.
