nissan 350Z custom in dash lcd install

    Hi,

i've just finished my install into a 350Z. I utlised the original pocket with the cover and put a 7" lilli touchscreen into it. The whole idea was to make it look like it came from the factory. The original lid can still be closed as usually so the screen is out of sight from sticky fingers. Its also recessed to shield from sun. The buttons have been relocated onto the factory panel by molding the LCD housing into the original factory plastic.

Let me know what you think. If any one needs advise on this job, i'm happy to help.

I'll also be doing a custom 8" screen into the dash of a RX8 next week. If you guys want, i'll take photos of the job for a tutorial.

I used the original panel and cut a section out, then used then plastic welded the housing of the LCD button section into this. Then just bogged it up and sanded it. Then just sprayded black. Took around 3-4 hours.

When i sell the car, i just need to buy another pocket for $60 and it will be back to factory again.

is that within easy reach? if it's in the storage area, might seem hard to get to the touch screen. just curious

Nice job on the 350. I look forward to pics of the RX8. They have a hideous dash, It should be interesting to see how it goes together.

Yeah the mazdas are pretty trick. I've done a 10.4 inch into a mazda6 a few weeks ago and it turn out really nice. I'll post pics very soon. The RX8 is very similar to the 6 so we'll see how that goes. I also have a S2000 to do soon, not that is not a easy job, still figuring out what we can do to it.

Thats what we first thought as well but before we actually went ahead, we tested it and its actually really easy. The reason been that the edge of the screen doesn't come to the edge of the pocket. Its actually a great place for a screen because it shields sun light.
