That nes case is just too sweet! I love it.
Started the PC a while a go just for fun, then I finally decided to make it into a carpc after tinkering with the idea.
the parts are:
VIA Epia 5000 mainboard 60$
256 PC133 ram 15$
100 gig Toshiba 2.5" hd (i have a lot of music and movies) From laptop (they didn't need it so it was free)
slim line DVD/CD drive 20$
Custom NES case 25$ (and a butt-load of Dremeling)
m1-atx 49$
7" Lilliput it's an EBY-701 (hurray bargain prices!) 190$
(everything above I got off of Ebay for a total of 359$ + any extra stuff...wire,etc.)
I have to say it took a lot of mental preparing to begin this Ive done quite a bit with cars and computers but never together. SO I have to admit I was aprehensive to start the project.
but so far I have relocated my headunit to put the Lilli in its place. And Ive also built the PC (actually I had already had it built for a different project....before this one) Ill post some more pics when I start the really heavy lifting. Until then this is what Ive got.
The NES PC

CLARION APA4300HX => CSS Trio8
CLARION APA2100 => Dayton IB385-8
got the screen late last night and i didn't have alot of time to play with it...before i started to try and put it in my dash.
I decided I wouldn't try and do any hardcore fiberglass/bondo fab until later so i decided to take the less inhalant approach.
this was where the scree would go.
it will go where the Headunit original was. I planned on making a "mount" out of a sheet of metal (Aluminum 6X18 .025 gauge) and the stock mount connectors from the radio....after a bleeding hand and alot of inevitable failure, I found my error in measurements and salvaged what I could. I ended up making a mount and just tossing the sock connectors I had. See below.
As you can see I am using the "sticky tape" wall mount stand straight up pasted to the metal (the image is small...sorry). but hey it works
I dunno for not using bondo/fiberglass I think it turned out well and I didnt have to do a button relocation or anything
now if my power supply would just show up I can finish the thing..(stupid mail service)
and thanks everyone who checks out my worklog. (viva la NES)

Alright so the carputer is in, and it’s fully functional. It took me a little longer than I though because my original wiring was wrong. (not catastrophically just not correct). But it was easily fixed. I chose to put the NES under the driver’s seat because I didn’t want my passengers fiddling with it while I was driving.
It fits fantastically.
I found I needed to use 12 AWG all around. Except for the ignition wire I still used 18. One mistake, not too bad.
I chose to piggy back the fuses instead of a direct wire. Less Hassle
I put all of the wires under the floor of the door sill piece
I made sure that the PC powered up. Then continued.
I pulled up my center console and ran the VGA and the audio cable under the carpet and up through the center dash (and also managed to mangle my hands in the process ouch! That plastic is sharp) because I really couldn’t justify running it all the way around to where the other wires were.
I plugged everything in and…success! Victory is mine! Everything works and I couldn’t be happier

Eventually I’m going to mold the Lilli into the dash. But for now, what I have will do. I don’t feel like tackling fiberglass or bondo just yet.
