You can make transparent images! Just put fuscia color behind the buttons and save them to BMP. All images have to be in BMP format. The fuscia color will give the buttons transparency.
Here is my attempt. REALLY STILL WORKING ON IT, Just a rough mockup. I am using RR with the brished metal skin, so I wanted to make it match. I also wanted to make them transparent, but there is no way to make a transparent BMP, the only file type I can use with IGSkinner.
My Idea is to have two different skins basically, the first is the main screen.

And, once the Menu button is pushed, the next screen pops up that looks like this
Yes, I know that the volume up and the zoom up should be on the same size, and I will make that change.

See, I started to model it after my Lexus Navi system. However, and I think like many OEM Navi, but I am not 100 percent sure, my Navi has 2 buttons that are not touch screen, but are on the side of the screen. They are the Menu Button and the Destination button. With these exterior buttons, there is more free area on the screen.Originally Posted by Chita79
The first screen can always be slimed down to just the zoom in and out buttons. But then, someone is gonna come along and say, Hey, I want to mark POI. I want to turn POI on and off. I want to go straight to street address, I want to control 3D view, blah blah blah, all from the main screen.
I will gladly post my PSDs once I am done. People can do what they want, add buttons they want, remove other buttons (That will of course be part of IGSkinner). Change colors (IG2.1.1 has 3 or 4 different background colors that I am sure people are gonna want to match thier buttons to) And that I think is the problem.
With OEM, you get what they give you. I buy my car, and if it has NAVI, and I get that option, that is what comes with it. But with the carputer community, everyone wants it to be the way THEY want it to be. I don't think anyone can skin/program to suite everyone. I might like the Lexus Navi, you the toyota, her the Acura, another the Benz. It's enough to drive one batty.
Michael
I should try it on the 7inch TS, and see how big it looks.
