OK, thanks. I'd like to see this brushed metal version first. I assume the way this is built, is that all buttons are placed seamlessly in a matrix layout. Right? Sounds tricky!

I have set up the OSK part of the INI to make it look like the IG OSK. My BMPs are 40x40 pixels for the letters and numbers. The Backspace, O.K., Search and Space bar are 90x40pixels.

If someone wants to create a different theme of BMPs, just keep my sizes in mind, and then you can use the same INI.

My BMP naming convention is pretty easy. All of the numbers and buttons are named A.bmp B.bmp, C.bmp 1.bmp 2.bmp etc. The only departure is the number zero is -0- (that is a zero), The backspace is called Backspace.bmp, the Period is called period.bmp, and the red cancel button is called cancel-x.bmp. The "imagedown" bmp is the name of the bmp, with the extension "_red" so, a.bmp becomes a_red.bmp for the "imagedown."

Got bored, and was sitting at the computer, so I decided to "map" all the buttons/function in IG. I thought it would save people some time to list them. Of course, you should confirm I got it right, but they should be. So, DN=Down, LF=Left, RT=Right, ent=enter

I find the easiest way to do this is to actually monitor what is the "foreground" window and send keys to that window.. you can pull the process name of the window if necessary or just exclude/include specific windows in the monitoring. In RR, I monitor the foreground window 10 times per second and exclude RR's windows from the monitoring so anything else outside RR could in theory be controlled. I'm yet to understand how Windows' OSK can actually keep the focus on the application even after pressing a button on the OSK... It's easy to just return the focus to the app (and that's necessary anyway), but make the focus never leave is something else..

Change the title of skinbedder to something eles, and mod RR accordingly.

It's not about being overzelous.. it's a matter of being "forgiving"... I already get plenty of questions on window names when it is only necessary to partially match the window title.. if the window names had to be exact (easier on the code), I'd get at least double as much questions about something that simple.. making it accept partial matches is only to make it easier on the setup.. in any case, you can make the window names very specific when needed using the class name or even both the class name and window title.

I wondered this myself when working on a project awhile back. One thing I found that was somewhat informative was this:

I did a quick test and looked at the messages recieved by the OSK with
Spy++. It looks like it prevents gaining focus by handling
WM_MOUSEACTIVATE and returning MA_NOACTIVATE. Then it posts
WM_LBUTTONDOWN and WM_LBUTTONUP messages to itself to simulate that a
click took place.

Cool.. thanks for the info.. it's really worth a try... but knowing VB6 it will probably find a way to f*** things up... so will not keep my hopes too high

Yeh, I know. If you make something idiot proof, life throws at you the perfect idiot.

But shouldn't you check if you actually embedded the RIGHT program? The one that you just launched!

just tried out hte new software today.. im having a few problems though.

the first hting i did was remove everything that had P1.
second i changed the panel height and default height to 600 (because i am using 800x600 skin)

it embedds everything fine but the "menu" and the "destination" buttons are no where to be found. but in centrafuse when i make the navigation window full screen (by clicking the top bar) i see the menu button and but the destination button is under the favorites button (you can see the outline of it).

what am i doing wrong?

Is your monitor operating in 800x600. I test in my desktop and laptop, but I normally run them at a higher resolution. If I forget to change the resolution, I sometimes have similar probelms.

Also, try changing the nudge values. They move the ig "window" inside of the skibedder "window" Perhaps that will help.

I could, but then if you were to use some launcher application this wouldn't work anymore..
